CB750 / CB750F1 wheel alignment.
« on: February 26, 2016, 01:55:19 PM »
Hi,

just done a wheel alignment check on my CB750F1 and discovered the front wheel is 10mm off set to one side.

I used two straight lengths of metal held up against the rear and front wheels, measuring the off set at the front wheel.

Maybe this would account for the low speed steering wobble when cornering to the right?

Any thoughts on the  likely cause of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Skoti.

Hi,

I managed to buy a new old stock genuine Honda CB750F1 top gasket set (part no 06110-393-S00).

It has only two rubber 'o' rings for the oil feed to the cylinder head. (part no 91310-426-000) 11x2.5mm.

When I dismantled the motor it had two fitted with the cylinder base gasket and two fitted with the cylinder head gasket.

My question is have Honda deleted the requirement for the other two 'o' rings from the cylinder base gasket or the cylinder head gasket?

Not sure where to fit the two supplied 'o' rings!

regards

Skoti.

CB750 / F1 Head Gasket Botch Up
« on: May 20, 2010, 11:03:28 AM »
Spent loads of cash doing up the bike over the winter and first time out discovered the head gasket leaking oil at the front outer head studs where they go through 'O' rings :'(.

Rather than spending more cash I tried a botch up and after 700 miles it's still holding :).

Here's what I used:-

Cleaned away all traces of oil, grease and caked on grime with brake cleaner and cotton buds until absolutely spotless all the way around the front outer stud boss.

Applied this P U sealant/adhesive purchased from local motor factors and left to set for 24 hours.

I ran a bead of sealant from under the exhaust rose at the front to half way along the gasket edge at the side. I used a piece of small plastic tube fixed onto the nozzle of the tube to get access right into the gasket edge.

CB750 / Front brake piston F1
« on: May 13, 2010, 04:59:12 PM »
Here's the cheap replacement front brake caliper piston kit I fitted to my F1.

 http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/VFM4rwaFx9DJKHABOogECQ?feat=directlink

Comes with an insert that applies pressure to the centre of the brake pad like the original Honda piston does.
The larger of the two seals supplied with the kit fits the F1 caliper.

Had to machine the recess in the rear of the brake pad out a bit so only the raised profile on the insert touches the brake pad.

Works a treat  ;)

CB750 / F1 lumpy low speed running.
« on: April 21, 2010, 01:55:44 PM »
Sorry to keep posting as many questions, but this is the first F1 I've owned and I'm not sure what to expect of it.

At low speeds and around 2000rpm when riding through towns the motor feels lumpy, open the throttle a touch and it becomes smooth.

Is this normal   :-\

CB750 / F1 neutral light woes
« on: April 20, 2010, 07:48:31 PM »
Today my neutral light went wonky. Lights up in 2nd,3rd and 4th gears (and neutral) goes out only in 1st and 5th.

Is it likely to be a faulty switch or dirty connection?  :-\

CB750 / CB750F1 engine oil capacity?
« on: April 11, 2010, 02:44:33 PM »
Just changed my F1 engine oil and oil filter today. With the engine hot I drained the oil tank, engine sump and oil filter housing.

Took just under 3 litres of oil to refill it to the top mark on the dip stick although the sticker on the oil tank states engine oil capacity 3.5 litres.

Have I missed something or is this normal?  :-\

CB750 / F1 Clutch cable
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:48:00 PM »
Hi,

my CB750F1 handle bars are a touch wider and taller than standard which makes the clutch cable stretch when on full left lock.

Anyone know of a good source for slightly longer clutch cables?   :-\

CB750 / CB750F1 Hondastyle Fairing for sale.
« on: January 28, 2010, 12:31:16 PM »
Hi,

anyone interested in buying a Hondastyle CB750F 3/4 length fairing removed from my F1? (I think that those fairings were manufactured by Rickman and sold through Honda dealers as genuine Honda stuff).

I am offering it for sale here first before it goes on Fleabay.

Please click on my web icon (below my name on the left) and look at the photos then email me if you are interested

CB750 / CB750F1 Sprockets
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:26:56 PM »
Hi,

I want to up the gearing on my F1 but I'm not sure if there's enough space for a larger front gearbox sprocket.
The front sprocket is cheaper and easier to change than the rear sprocket so can anyone advise me if there is enough space to replace the standard 17 tooth front gearbox sprocket with say an 18 tooth sprocket without the chain fouling the sprocket cover mounting lugs etc ?   :)

CB750 / Fuel Tank Sealant
« on: November 01, 2009, 09:46:23 AM »
Hi,

has anyone had success using fuel tank sealant as a cure for internal rust problems?

I'm considering giving it a go on my 750F1 and would be grateful for any hints and tips on how to use the stuff  :-\

Ahoj,

I've recently bought a 1976 CB750F1 from an old friend which has been stored for the last 10 years. It runs but needs some work. It's the first Honda Four I've owned so you may hear more from me in the way of technical advice required!   :)

yours hopefully

Skoti  ;)
