CB500/550 / Re: CB400/4 wheels on a CB550K3 ?

Doesn't the 400 have an 18" front wheel?

550 = 19"

EDIT: Yep, just looked in the book. The 400/4 has an 18" front.

Andy.

When posting pictures from Photobucket, paste in the code from the "IMG Code" box rather than the url. It makes the thread much easier to read.

I've done the first one for you  8)

That link doesn't show the page you were intending Mike.

So no idea as to which o-rings you mean.  ???

Tricks & Tips / Re: Front brake: Reverse bleeding
« on: September 19, 2009, 10:49:31 AM »
That's a good description Nick.

If you have the bike in bits, another way is to hook the caliper to the garage ceiling so that all the pipework is above the master cylinder and then bleed in the normal way.

CB500/550 / Re: cb550 speedo cable fitting as to 750

Found it in the FAQ on .net

Although it has my name on it, I didn't write it (I'm just the "curator")   8)

Be careful - I seem to recall that the tach ratios were different for the 500/500 and 750.

Maybe Bryan can shed light.

It is 1-2-4-3

Bit of a pain really.

The "spokes" are steel and the rims alloy. They are riveted together.

I understand that you cannot take them apart.

Other Bikes / Re: VFR750 - just failed it's MOT !

Steering head bearings definitely!

I did them on my VFR800; it's not difficult.

You can easily damage the bearings by simply riding up a kerb - it's not necessarily a feature of miles covered.

Announcements / New Registrations (Sept 2009)
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:16:12 PM »
Apologies to all new members but we have been suffering a concerted spam attack since the beginning of the month and have had to set the registration process to "approve by admin"

This means new registrants may have to wait for us to approve their details before being allowed to post.

Sorry about this - we are trying to get the anti-spam registration filters back on line as a recent site software upgrade seems to have rendered them inoperable...   :(

That was a rhetorical question Mike...    ;D

There is no pressure - it's just a grease seal for the front wheel.

I don't see why not - there's no oil pressure behind it is there?

CB500/550 / Re: Wire harness
« on: September 07, 2009, 05:48:05 PM »
I have the 550K3 parts book and it shows the harness as 321000-404-670

The 670 probably doesn't matter as I believe that Honda just used that to identify their supplier (Bryan?)

The 550K (not shipped to the UK but there are imports) was model number 374 and the 550F was model number 390. The K3 was 404

That helps to identify any part number by model.

To the best of my knowledge, all 500/550s had the horn/pass button (unless it was an import) as that was std for the UK. My 500K1 and 550F2 certainly do.
