« on: March 16, 2017, 07:57:57 AM »
Morning all,
Can someone please tell me if my 400F would pass an m.o.t. with brake light operated only from pedal ? Does it have to operate from pedal + front lever ?
Thanks,
Kenny.

CB350/400 / 400/4 Exhaust
« on: July 30, 2015, 03:05:57 PM »
Hi,
Can someone please tell me (or even better, post a pic.) how much clearance there is between collector box and sump on a 400/4 exhaust.
I bought a system from David @ Saisei, via CMSNL. When I tighten headers, the system is pulled in against one of the bottom fins of the sump :( I'd post a pic, but bike is on ground,so its a bit awkward. There is a bit of play with headers slack, but whenever I tighten them, they are tight against the sump.
David @ Saisei is contacting CMSNL,to see if they have had any feedback about these exhausts.

  Ta, Kenny.

CB350/400 / Motad stainless exhaust system.
« on: October 26, 2014, 01:12:29 PM »
I have new Motad stainless system,to fit a 400/4 for sale. I bought this system direct from Motad,to eventually fit on my 400,but have changed my mind in favour of original style system. Got the downpipes from Wemoto, will probably get silencer from D.S.
This system has never been fitted, and  I am selling it for a lot less than the one on ebay. See item no.361081996127.
I am offering here first, before I list it on fleabay for higher price.
 I am looking for £185 inc.post for it. Anyone interested,please p.m. me.
  cheers, Kenny.

CB350/400 / Primary chain/shaft - 400/4
« on: September 07, 2014, 02:55:39 PM »
Just fitted a new primary chain (and rubbers) on my 400/4 engine. Problem is that primary shaft doesn't line up with starter gear. :(
The gear has to move about 1/8th. of an inch to rear of engine. Is this normal with new chain? Can the gear be 'levered' back a bit?
Thought I'd ask the experts on here first. I have the engine upside down, resting on cyl.studs.
Thanks, Kenny.

Misc / Open / Crankcase bolts/screws.
« on: June 27, 2014, 04:34:17 PM »
Tried to slacken a bolt today,to remove broken cable clamp on 400F. This is what happened. :( :(
Someone in the past has tried to slacken and butchered screw heads. Will have to heat them, and try impact driver.
Have never split one of these engines. Will have to now!!  >:(

CB350/400 / Coils
« on: April 20, 2014, 11:13:36 AM »
Hi,
The HT lead on one of my coils is broken, just at the coil. I am wanting to replace both coils. Are the ones that D.S. sells any good?
Has anybody fitted those? What are my options?  Advice, please. :) :)

CB350/400 / rear wheel hub/spokes
« on: April 06, 2014, 11:06:26 AM »
Could somebody please tell me if the rear hub on a 400f,is in the centre of the wheel,or is it offset?
I got new chrome rims and stainless spokes from CWC, on Friday. Gone to fit them together today, and realised ALL the spokes they have sent me have a right-angle bend on them. :( :(  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't matter for the front wheel, does it??
For the back wheel, the inner spokes have a 45deg, bend and the outers have a 90deg. I checked this as I took it apart.
The guy at CWC said they do a lot of 400f wheels,so I assumed they would know which spokes to send me. :(
Just wanted to know if the rear hub was offset,or not. I forgot to check when taking it apart, and hope its only the spokes.
I was hoping to get my wheels re-built today. >:( >:(
cheers,  Kenny.

« on: January 03, 2014, 02:01:53 PM »
Hi,
Thought I'd just introduce myself to you all.  Got myself a 400f ('76) courtesy of fleabay. None runner, needing a lot of TLC. Got bike approx. 3 months ago, since then I have stripped bike, got frame, swinging arm, etc, powdercoated. Got parts back about 6 weeks ago,and started rebuild.
This is my 3rd rebuild. Previous 2 have been CX500's,one standard model, the other a Eurosport.
Joined this forum, cos no doubt I will need help/advice somewhere along the line.
