Misc / Open / Wheeler Dealers Trading up CB750
« on: March 22, 2022, 09:55:50 PM »
Just watched Wheeler Dealers trading up programme on Discovery  where they were working their way up to a Caterham 7. On the way to it they bought a CB750. Waffled on about exhausts being unobtainable etc, eventually got a set  from David Silvers  for cost!!??. Surprise surprise....  When they stared it, it was staged. Opening twist grip right up when revving it and rev increase minimal. Sound not a CB750 either in my mind. No idea how to tell you how to find it but first aired 21st March as a new episode.  PS anybody know the guy he bought it off? Seemed to have a few...

Misc / Open / Well I never! Honda's made in Suzuki Factory!!
« on: October 16, 2021, 11:43:48 PM »
Just reading an article as below re CB750 production demands. Used a Suzuki factory!!

"It became clear that the production of the original sand-molded crankcases would never meet the rate requirements of mass production, so the factory switched over to producing crankcases of a metal, die-cast construction. The bikes were such a hit with the riding public that the production of engines and chassis was moved to a Suzuki factory in mid-1971."

Full article FYI.

Announcements / Classic Bike Meet Matlock
« on: May 27, 2021, 07:23:57 AM »
Just found this on local news. Orgainised by John Lambey of Crich event fame. Appears to be a monthly thing. Pub in in Matlock itself not the more well known with bikers, Matlock Bath. Once a month event. Will probably pop down for a squint!

CB500/550 / How many 500's vs 550's
« on: March 14, 2021, 06:49:42 PM »
Random question but how many 500's were made in comparison to 550's. Don't know why but always felt 550's were the lesser of the two.... I spose the "how many originally imported to the UK" would be a follow on question too?

Other Bikes / TL125 wanted???
« on: November 07, 2020, 05:20:27 PM »
I'm after a TL125 ideally, or 70 / 80's XL 125 possibly if not, maybe SL125 .... They are all fetching silly money I know.

It will be for my teenage kids to learn / play on with a view to proper resto later on when they are bored!! Ideally something cosmetically tired but sound otherwise - so they can drop it etc without worrying...

Any leads appreciated.

Tim
