What a lovely day for a ride ,well darn souf anyway.
I just love riding this bike just short of 500 miles now so dumped the oil after todays 85 mile ride.
Stopped in Rye for an ice cream and a chat with other like minded two wheelers  out in droves.
Hope i don't have to wait until the Spring to get her out again. :)

« on: September 23, 2017, 07:25:01 AM »
Hi Guys
I have just got rebuilt wheels back fot the 1972 cb175 and now looking for tyres .

I really wanted a period looking rib on the fronyt and in Dunlops can only find K82's
which is the pattern we commonly used (i think they were TT100's then )
The only rib i can find are cheng Shin , I'm not a racer and will endevour not to go out in snow or pouring rain

Other Bikes / On to next project
« on: August 02, 2017, 09:20:32 PM »
As the 750 k0 is now all sorted i thought it was time to start another one.
This may seem a bit sad to some but i do have a habit of living in the past.
Back in 1972 i had a CB175 new ,the first bike i had ( forgetting the li125 lambretta i had before that).
A bike i always loved i had if for only a year and sold it to my twin brother who eventually sold it on to some mate of his
who kept falling off of it and eventually he sold it to his window cleaner (I found that out a couple of years ago )'
Talking to a customer three or so years ago he did the DVLa check and there it was ,on the road somewhere
After loads of attempts to track it down i have given up but in the process i bought last year the bike in the photos here .
My bike was DKL54K and as you can see this id DKL69K it came out of the same dealer the same day as mine back in 72 so
the plan is to restore this one.
I will then have something smaller to ride when the years catch me up.
Menno has done the paint for me. Frame is now in primer and a lot better condition than i thought it would be.
I have a brand new crank and 2 doner bikes for replacing any rough parts.
The engine is stripped and apart from a broken starter motor mounting screw no major problems.
Dissembled mudguards for chrome stripping prior to dent removal and re polishing ,chroming and then rivet back together again.
Thats enough rambling ,i'll update as things happen

CB750 / Help/ ideas please
« on: June 20, 2017, 09:40:45 PM »
Hi All
KO 180 miles since rebuild, first 120 miles running great.
Last week went for a ride and stopped running on number 4, plug wet so thinking plug.
Tonight swapped number 4 plug with number 1, initially ran well but after 40 miles number 4 off again.
I got home and checked exhaust temperatures. Number 2 was 20deg the hottert but i seem to remember
this can be due to heat from the front disc???.
number 3 was next then 1, and 4 way behind, but still hot enough 300mm from head to make me think it is still firing
although not fully.
any ideas welcome please.
oh new coils and leads.

CB750 / Rev Counter Hickup
« on: March 29, 2017, 07:28:30 PM »
Hi All
Well as you know bike finished now, the rev counter was bouncing about all over the place so
hit the internet and SOHC. Net came up with the answer and it seemed to be the damper pot empty of oil.
I duly bought the required silicon grease and stripped the thing to bits and yes the pot was dry.
I put a small amount in the pot ,sealed it up an re assembled the taco.
All seemed to be moving freely and i was happy with the way it went.
:-[ Disappointment no movement at all now.
Does anyone know if all of the K series revcounters innards will fit ? if so there are some cheap
ones on ebay that may do the trick.

CB750 / Ugly Duckling to Swan in 2 years 4 months
« on: March 26, 2017, 06:50:22 PM »
Hi All
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the great Guys and Gals on this forum for all of
the help and advice i have been given over the last 2 years.
Especially Ashimoto, UK Pete, James, and Mick , and Kettle738 and Trigger and Julie.
The first total ,every nut and bolt restoration i have undertaken of a Honda 4.
Just one last little thing , I fired her up today and runs lovely and ticks over like a Swiss watch
and i haven't balanced the carbs yet. The Rev counter is flying all over thec place and i assume it is the  oil damper
pot needs filling.
I have been on the SOHC forum and quite a bit on there re damper oil etc.
I have ordered oil as recommended by Lecram and should be here Thursday.
I have taken the Rev Counter apart again and i am now looking to somehow fill the pot.
Anyone done it on here???

CB750 / Fitting tank badges
« on: March 10, 2017, 06:35:31 PM »
Bike so near finished and now fitting tank badges.
The paint work is a Yamiya body kit, masses of paint on it, i had to open up the
petrol cap pivot holes to get the pins in.
I'm fitting the badges, do the little forked clips go on the badges first or do they go into the holes in the tank
and then push the badges on?.
I'm assuming the holes will need the paint removing or they may be too tight to push on.
I don't want to get them half way on and get them stuck.
Cheers Rich

CB750 / K0 Master cylinder problem
« on: March 02, 2017, 06:58:06 PM »
Bike is almost finished and i have filled the master cylinder and have a problem.
The body was cleaned and a new plunger/seal kit fitted.
The brake fluid won't pump down the pipes.
I have the nipple removed and left the cylinder filled last night with the lever pulled in (i assume this
will leave the access out open).
No fluid has left the cylinder, pumping the lever doesn't make it move either.
I took the lever off and the plunger mover freely by pushing with a brass rod.
Any ideas welcome please.

« on: February 05, 2017, 07:24:18 PM »
The K0 is coming together well now and i have a inner rear guard but it isn't that pretty
and the bike is looking so good i don't want to use it.
I'm looking for a new one the link here says k3 on but as far as i can see they seem to be the same after k0
