anyone use oil additives in their engines? from what I can understand they cannot be used in wet clutch engines so I guess no but I thought I would ask.

No additives in any of our SOHC/4's, including all the 750's. What sort of additive do you mean🤔 As long as the oil you use it to the correct specification, that's enough.

I usually put stp oil additive (also called oil treatment) or the wynns version in my cars and bikes as added internal metal to metal protection (and it makes the engine a lot quieter!!). I have not put any in my moto guzzi nor the cb 400 I have recently finished a 'light' resto on as both have a wet clutch but I was thinking of using stp in both and the cb750f2 I have almost finished not least so it quietens down the primary drive chain!!.
I use the diesel version of triple qx in my 750 as I once read that the additives for the diesel turbo are good for the old wet clutches

I think the additives change the viscosity and thats why there quieter.
If the oil is in good condition you wont get metal to metal contact.

A long time ago one of the additive firms, wynns i think, took a lister diesel single and added their stuff then drained all the oil and ran it till it locked, from memory over half an hour

I heard similar.
It was Molyslip and a Cortina.

some of the reviews for the triple qx 10/40 diesel show it is an above average oil at a fair price.

I've been using it in my CB750, ST1100, Z900A4 and other bikes for a number of years without any problems.
Normlly get it through Euro Car Parts. If you register with them they are often doing discounts etc and I generally pay around £15 to £17 for 5l with free delivery.
