OK here as well :).
Try switching off your laptop or shutting down your phone and restarting. Sounds like you may have pressed something and maybe changed the settings somehow?

A shame such a moral stance wasn't taken by the complete tosser who drove into the back of our car on Thursday whilst my wife was undertaking a home visit as a NHS Midwife. When she came out the rear wing, wheelarch, sill and bumper had been stoved in. The person who did this had no morals whatsoever and just left the scene. The result is if we claim on our insurance it is us who will pay the higher premiums, not the scumbag who caused the damage and who obviously has no insurance, licence, MOT or whatever.
I have lived by strict morals all my life however when those around me refuse to do so and considering this is London where illegal driving appears to be the norm these days with no punshiment whatsoever I'll do exactly what I want to when it comes to something trivial such as fitting an LED bulb if I consider what I am doing is a matter for my own personal safety.

That picture is a huge carrot Ash and why we should be thinking of taking a holiday to Japan with a large empty suitcase!

Personally speaking I don't give a stuff if LED's are legal or not in our reflectors, I'm fitting one!
Considering our police force are unable/unwilling to prosecute uninsured drivers, Drink/Drug related driving, vehicles driving around with no MOT and Tax and motorists driving whilst banned or having no licence at all whilst Mr Khan is trying to force us off the road with nanny state regulations I don't think the fitting of an LED that may or may not be legal is going to be an issue for me. If it is illegal come MOT time I will temporarily change the bulb  ;D

I have just bought the P43T LED for my Cibie. I have gone for 3000k Cool White because it has a more yellowish light to it. Having read up on a few things relating to cars etc pulling out on bikers it has been indicated (not proven) that a headlight with a yellowish tint is more noticeable to car drivers. Bright white tends to get washed out with all the cars nowadays that have their sidelights permanently on.

Dave,

in order to avoid further confusion please may I point out that the cool white LED you mention is actually 6000k, it's the warm white LED that's 3000k and as you note probably the more appropriate looking LED for our old nails.

Opp's, yes you are correct there Skoti, I read and quoted from the notes I was making at the time I was placing the order for a complete set of LED's. I was comparing the various headlight colours as I was discussing my options on the telephone and have written cool white next to 6000k! Sorry, my schoolboy error. I have the 3000k warm white LED. Hopefully the morons on the roads will see me with a yellow(ish) light if the data is to be believed.

I wonder if something is getting lost in the translation Julie .. maybe by 'muffler' they mean the complete system?
Quite possibly Ash. Yamiya call the complete system the muffler, so it would make sense.

Well if that is the case that's not a bad deal and assuming the headers are double skinned as per the originals. I'll cancel that holiday  :)

A £1000 for a silencer :o.

I think for the sake of a Sankei makers stamp and a part number I'd rather spend £200 on a pattern silencer and use the £800 change on a holiday 8)

That sounds remarkably smooth considering it has open carbs with no filters or pods.
The exhaust note is going to sound pretty awesome when given the beans.
Well done and thanks for posting the video👍

That's pretty cool. I do wonder though what the crash protection would be like as not much distance between the driver and the front of the car.
Very good idea though and this is what I think EV's are best suited to, urban short runs and considering these are the types of journeys most people do they would be ideal especially on London and other cities.
The price though, that's the killer.

I would guess that sounds right Ash. I know he buys his stock from all over the world; it must be pretty interesting as I would guess it would be between him and CMSNL as to who can get to the spares stash first and claim it!

Got to hand it to DSS though, without him how many of us would be in a position to have restored one of our old bikes back in the 90's. Just wish he would give a deal to the VJMC and SOHC Forum members though and he would probably benefit from it in the long run as more people would restore more bikes and thus order more parts from him.

Welcome to the forum Phil.

The CB650Z was a nice bike back in the day and was probably the ultimate development of the CB550 engine. They were overshadowed at launch by the then new CB750/900 DOHC models that obviously took all the glory. I know very little about these engines other than the primary chain wear was not the issue on these engines as it was on the 500/550's before it. Good luck with the carbs, I think these used the PD type and known for issues.

Lots of advice on here and you'll never be stuck with a problem.

I know DSS buys most of his stock from dealers getting rid of their old or slow moving stock (or he used to, I guess the retro market has picked up a lot since the 80's & 90's and the stock is now in demand by people like us). Where did DSS buy his initial stock from to get started, was it Honda UK although Nigel's post would make that seem impossible if Honda themselves sent it to landfill?

There is a wire circlip you need to winkle out with a fine pick.

Wow, I didn't know that Ash :o. Well done. Is the bit that suffers the wear the ball or the socket (sounds like a hip joint!)?

« on: May 28, 2024, 08:09:40 PM »
I have tried a couple of times in the past to get the joint apart but failed! In the end I took the complete gear lever for chroming but as I knew the plater I asked him to do his best to avoid damaging the joint and to his credit it came back all ok. I don’t know anyone who has managed to separate the joint to reassemble it.

The actual joint is a weak spot on the 400/4 suffering with high wear and becoming sloppy.

I think Ken (Oddjob) on here did try to make a conversion using a rose joint arrangement, I don't know if he completed it. You may find something relating to it if you try a search on the 400 and 500 pages although when he left Ken deleted a lot of his posts unfortunately.
