While I aim to ride only in dry conditions it is difficult to avoid the odd puddle or bit of damp road and have been dismayed to see the splatter all over the engine, cases exhaust etc which is quite hard to get to. A front mud flap would seem sensible but have seen differing opinions about this and nothing jumps out on eBay as being type specific (550k1). Anyone done this successfully or it just a general thumbs down and only ride when bone dry or get used to frequent clean ups.

Have one on the 550K3 makes a difference although I try not to go out in the rain but caught out a few times. Been on the bike since I bought it in 1987. 😜

+1 on the flap, I have the same and does help.

Put one on my 750F1, it worked great, but the front mudguard rusted under it, probably should have painted the area it covered with anti rust paint.

Good I’m glad it’s not such a frowned on idea. It would be great to find one with the Honda logo but not seeing them out there for sale

Im sure there is a part number for one in the parts book, you would have to find some W.E.Wassell ones for the logo

Be interesting to see how it looks fitted Dave - be good if you can post a photo of it fitted.
Presumably it will fit between the existing bottom stay fittings ?

There's one on the wall behind the counter in my local bike shop. I can buy it if anybody wants it, then post it on.

Yes I realise now that link is to a bigger one than I bought with same design. may well have to do a bit of shaping anyway. Will post photos of how I get on .. could be mission abort if it looks dodgy 😉

That looks very in period Dave and suits the bike very well and no more cruddy engine. Time to break out the flares and Paddy Hopkirk Agordo helmet :)

Not really Ted it was the odd splash on the front from an unavoidable puddle I was trying to prevent.
