Title: Kick starting a 750
Post by: r1_pete on October 12, 2012, 01:11:25 PM
Hi All,

I've been a bit lazy over the summer and just been collecting parts for my 77 F2 rebuild, I've decided on a stripped back minimalist look for the bike, I bought chassis and engine from seperate sources so its no loss.

One of the things I'm thinking of ditching is the starter motor, how easy are these bikes to kick start? I really don't want to remove the starter and then find the kick is an emergency only type device.

Cheers.

Pete.

They really are as easy as the previously stated if all in good order.

Saying that, there's a lead-up ad for that "Cafe Racer" program currently running on TV with a close up of a SOHC 750 being kick started, oddly sounds like an old brit bike when it fires....!!! now that is impressive.

The "Cafe racer" series is on a cable chanel called Discovery I think (I just flick down the listings to see what's on and don't take much notice of the channels).

It can have some interesting stuff, and usually one whole program of the series based around the Ace Cafe in London.

Some bits make you wince though as somebody destroys some parts of a bike that you like in the name of improvement.

Which part of France do you live in Bitsa?

Hi k2 k6,
In the poitou charente It is about half way down of France not far from La Rochelle.
I can get discovery channels so I will keep an eye out.
Cheers
