Title: 410 cylinder head
Post by: r1_pete on February 05, 2014, 06:24:41 PM
I have what is clearly a bitsa engine, it has K cases with the narrow / hollow gearbox output shaft, but has a 410 head.

The head is not black and shows no sign of ever being black, did Honda use the 410 casting in silver on any other model?

I'm planning to build the whole lot into some K7 cases, because I have a mint set and want a silver engine, any gotchas fitting the 410 head / barrels onto K7 cases?

410 head is f2/3 , You must have the f2 barrels as well because the k barrels dont work with the f2 head
I have a k7 bottom end which i was going to put an f2 top end on, it seems that the k7 lower end is similar to the f2 with the beefed up output shaft, if you are going to mix and match do a bit of research as some things wont work without modifications

I've got an official Honda shop manual that has F2 and K7 as a pair.
The whole manual essentially deals whith them as the same bike apart from the obvious differences.
It looks like the bottom ends are the same and the cylinder head casting also....the K7 being silver (no paint) and having smaller valves than the F2.

Nigel.

If I recall correctly the K7 used the F1 engine but with the later F2 type carbs with accelerator pumps
