CB750 / Lost Camshaft Bearing caps.
« on: May 12, 2014, 07:44:35 PM »
Was cleaning up the head components for my second build, and realised I've lost the cam bearing caps, I remember numbering them and stringing them together, but I'm pretty sure they ended up in a box I let the tatters take!!!!

My loss, anyone got a set they'll sell me?

Cheers.

CB750 / Honda dating service - I think they've got mine wrong.
« on: April 16, 2014, 08:05:34 PM »
Has anyone used the Honda dating service, and got unexpected results? I sent them my Frame number CB750 - 22124xx and they've come back with a Dec 6 1977 manufacture date!! I could believe Dec 6 1972, I'm wondering if its a 7 for 2 typo.. has anyone else received unexpected results like this?
the other thing is they've quoted back a frame number CB750F 22124xx
I'll write back after the easter hols, with a photograph of the frame number, hoping its a simple error....

CB750 / Registering a USA Import - built from bits
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:59:05 AM »
I'm gathering parts to build a CR750 rep, I have the main components, and am thinking about the frame mods, but, I would like to register it on an age related plate, I Have:

A 1973 frame confirmed on NOVA, so its legal and duties paid.

Requested a dating certificate from Honda UK.

When the bike is complete and MOT'd is this enough to get it registered, has anyone experience of doing this? as reading various web sites, some need photographs and frame and engine numbers to date, some say DVLA will examine, some say the 3 papers above are enough...

So really looking for a definative answer for someone who has done it, and doesn't have an interest in taking a fee from me and over complicating things..

Can anyone help.

Cheers.

CB750 / Cracked F2 bottom yoke replecement advice needed.
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:36:48 PM »
I noticed my bottom yoke is cracked, its not the sort of thing I want to weld up.

I have a CB550 yoke, but, the spacing is different between the stem and fork legs compared to the 750.

Are all 750 lower yokes the same spacing? I'm not worried about the brake hose splitter fittings as long at the triangular size and shape is common.

Cheers.

CB750 / SOHC F2, spoke front wheel, twin pot calipers
« on: March 16, 2014, 08:22:05 PM »
I'm working on the twin disc, twin piston caliper set up for my F2.

The Honda spoke hub and discs is no good as the discs are too big, I think, a Suzuki GT250/380 front hub and discs would work with a little machining.

But, I don't have one I am just going on memory.

Does anyone have an old GT250, 380, 550 etc. hub kicking about and for sale??

CB750 / Honda Britain / PRR Bars
« on: March 06, 2014, 06:27:36 PM »
Didn't want to hijack Gazza ss750's thread, but is there a supplier of the PRR / Britain handlebars? they look perfect for what I need, clip on style but not too radical and low.

CB750 / Going to build a CR Rep, as well as the current project.
« on: March 05, 2014, 12:55:53 PM »
After my lack of motivation post a few weeks ago, the bug has really bitten again, and with all this talk of CR750 reps I do fancy one, but I also want to complete the existing project the way I originally intended.

So the answer is to build a CR rep as well as the current bike. I have quite a lot of cycle parts, probably enough, and engines, but, I don't have a frame.

So.

If anyone has one, or knows of a frame languishing in the back of a garage, waiting for the scrap man, on its way to the tip etc. I could be a buyer. Prefer a pre 75 K, but anything would work, cracks and breaks don't matter I can weld pretty well - w.h.y.
Cheers.

CB750 / Main Bearing identification
« on: March 02, 2014, 01:26:48 PM »
Is there a way to measure and identify main bearings once the colour has worn away? I know the outers are B, but I didn't het the crank with the cases.

I have a set of perfect bearings, which I'd like to identify...

CB750 / CR750 fuel tank supplier in the UK
« on: February 26, 2014, 07:46:13 PM »
Is there a supplier in the UK for CR750 rep tanks to fit the CB frame?

I quite fancy that route now, found the guy in Czech Rep doing them but that's going to be close on £700 by the time I got it...

Cheers.

CB750 / Points Cover dims?
« on: February 23, 2014, 03:18:14 PM »
I'm fitting the ignition system from an early fireblade into my 750

I currently don't have the points cover, so setting the components so they won't foul the cover is my problem.

Could someone tell me the depth of the cover, and the diameter where it finishes tapering?

Better still, anyone got one spare & for sale, any condition as it'll get re chromed.

Cheers.

CB750 / My version of a Hydraulic clutch conversion
« on: February 22, 2014, 02:16:49 PM »
I fancied having a go at a hydraulic clutch for a while, no real reason other than to be a bit different, I've seen many using a triangular type plate, but couldn't see how it was centred....
So came up with this, which centres on the original cover lip, I'm quite pleased after 3 or 4 hours on the lathe its turned out perfectly centred.
Next job is to plug the kickstart hole, then start polishing.

CB750 / Kick start mechanism
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:29:00 PM »
I've nearly finished my hydraulic clutch conversion, but its going to mean the kick start lever will not fold flat without mods.

I've seen blanking plugs for when the lever is left off, but thought, why not remove the entire mechanism when I build the motor into new cases and go electric start only. I did originally think of going kick only and this is a 180 degree about turn....

Question is does the kick start gear do anything else? e.g. drive the oil pump, I know I'll find out when I strip the engine, but prior to that I would like to mod the clutch cover, to blank the kick starter shaft, and how I do it depends on what I need to leave inside.

CB750 / Help confirming Piston Identity
« on: February 08, 2014, 03:04:18 PM »
I finally got round to stripping the bitsa engine, I'm pretty sure the whole top end is F2 - Head Barrels and Pistons, I'd just like some help confirming these are F2 pistons, I did expect a higher dome...
