CB750 / 410 cylinder head
« on: February 05, 2014, 06:24:41 PM »
I have what is clearly a bitsa engine, it has K cases with the narrow / hollow gearbox output shaft, but has a 410 head.

The head is not black and shows no sign of ever being black, did Honda use the 410 casting in silver on any other model?

I'm planning to build the whole lot into some K7 cases, because I have a mint set and want a silver engine, any gotchas fitting the 410 head / barrels onto K7 cases?

CB750 / Progress, or lack of it...
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:06:19 PM »
I need some motivation.....
Apart from a pile of expensive parts, this is all I've got to show for about 18 months part time effort, a re finished frame, a couple of brackets to mount CBR600 rearsets.
The last pic is the look I'm aiming for, but its motivational value is declining..

CB750 / Anyone wanting Alloy wheel rims??
« on: January 27, 2014, 08:16:52 PM »
I bought a pair from this outfit in Italy:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261376142054

Got the pair for the price of one from the UK suppliers, was delivered in 3 days!!

I've no business interest with them, just a decent product at a reasonable price and great service.

CB750 / 3 inch rear rim
« on: January 20, 2014, 08:43:29 PM »
I'm thinking of going for a 3" x 18 rear rim on my F2, its running an F1 Spoked rim.

Has anyone used a 3" rim on any CB750? if so what tyre size have you gone with, I'm looking at 120 80, or 130 70?

Cheers.

CB750 / Gasket set recommendation??
« on: January 16, 2014, 12:14:41 PM »
Can anyone recommend me a decent gasket set / supplier for the CB750?

I'm rebuilding my engine into new cases, and want to try and get a set which is complete, do any include the bottom end seals for the crank, clutch, output shaft etc?

Cheers.

CB750 / F1 Rear Wheel 'disaster'
« on: January 18, 2013, 09:44:12 AM »
I've not done much work with the CB in the last year or so, been busy re building the E Type's Bonnet.....

Decided I'd lace up the back wheel during the last few cold nights when disaster struck, one of the spoke holes in the rim pulled apart as I was tightening the spoke, I guess there must have been a hairline crack as I hadn't got anywhere near full tension on, anyway the hub is scrap now with 3 adjascent spoke holes ripped open.

Does anyone have an F1 rear hub for sale? know of one for sale, or of any other spoke hub from Honda or other manufacturer which can be made to fit?

Cheers.

CB750 / Kick starting a 750
« on: October 12, 2012, 01:11:25 PM »
Hi All,

I've been a bit lazy over the summer and just been collecting parts for my 77 F2 rebuild, I've decided on a stripped back minimalist look for the bike, I bought chassis and engine from seperate sources so its no loss.

One of the things I'm thinking of ditching is the starter motor, how easy are these bikes to kick start? I really don't want to remove the starter and then find the kick is an emergency only type device.

Cheers.

CB750 / Taking Comstars to bits --- Again.
« on: June 21, 2012, 05:35:42 PM »
I know all the advice is dont, bolts not available, riveted etc........

But,

Has anyone actually done it and had success? I want an 18" front wheel, better tyre choice (OK Cheaper), and I have a really neat mudguard which fits a 100 90 18 perfectly.

I have an 18" front from a CM400, but that only has one disk, I'm thinking of getting a scrap 19" F2 / DOHC comstar and fitting its centre into the 18" wheel, I figure I will only need to remove 2 pairs of spokes, but to balance things I should use the same rim end fittings on all spokes, so would use dome nuts and screws all round, loctited of course.

I can't see a problem bolting it all back together with tight fitting metric fine pitches, optimum torque figures etc.

Has anyone had any success / what are the pitfalls I'm probably missing?

CB750 / CB750 Foot Rest
« on: June 07, 2012, 12:36:29 PM »
Hi all, I'm doing some slight mods to my F2 as I restore it, one of them is using the slightly rear set footrest assemblies from the DOHC, I have everything except a right side foot rest, does anyone have one kicking around they would sell me?

The pic if it works is of the left side rest, it is its opposite I need.

Cheers.

CB750 / Cam cover 'surprise'
« on: May 30, 2012, 11:30:30 AM »
Started work on my engine this week, and noticed there is no tachometer drive on the cam cover, the internal casings for the drive gear etc are there, but, the outside of the cover is not machined to take the cable, it is just a rounded off 'blob'.

Did Honda make a model of CB750 with an electronic tacho, or have I got something odd?

Cheers.

CB750 / CB750 F1 Fuel Tap
« on: May 28, 2012, 11:36:47 AM »
Hi All, does anyone know if there fuel taps from other Honda models which will fit the F1 tank with the 20mm threaded fitting? F1 taps seem few and far between and mine is broken off at the gland nut flange, and the nut is missing.
Cheers.

CB750 / More on Locks - Tank Flap
« on: April 05, 2012, 09:11:59 PM »
Does anyone know of a supplier for F2 tank flap locks? I suspect all the flaps have the same locks.

Or does anyone have one spare & for sale, key not vital, I have a tame locksmith..

Cheers.

I have a mis match carbs and engine, I have a 74 engine, and 2 sets of F2 Carbs, but no carb to head rubbers at all.
