CB750 / Petrol tank chrome strip .
« on: March 29, 2016, 07:06:34 PM »
Hi Guys , Trouble here
I have just looked at the april 1969 Brighton show done by Pathe news and the bike there looking up at is a sandcast with the horn on the left . They show a close up of the tank and the chrome strip is the one everyone says is for a K1 ? .Does this mean that we are all making assumptions on what is correct for the year based on what other people say is gospel .Old footage like this may sort out a few answers on what is right . Someone said my double lipped front mudguard was wrong but the 750 expert says K0`s had them from 1970 on . I will do some more digging to see if I can find out any more .
                         Cheers ,Alan.

CB750 / Frame and engine numbers .
« on: March 28, 2016, 06:35:49 PM »
Hi Guys,
I have been asked recently by prospective buyers about my frame and engine numbers and I have come to the conclusion that no one knows the full story .One person said there should be no more that 500 difference as it is a K0 ,as K1`s that he worked on had about the same difference .My research has shown that there could be as many as 9500 difference between engine and frame on K0`s alone . This info comes from America and shows 44450 bikes sold but 53300 engine numbers allocated at the same time .We all know the story of the porosity on sandcasts and the breaking chains on K0`s . How can it be only 500 difference from sandcast to the end of the K1 production ?. Does anyone have any concrete evidence on what is correct as it affects prospective purchasers .
                                                                  Cheers , Alan .

CB750 / Just Finished.
« on: October 02, 2015, 07:26:48 PM »
Hi Guys ,
Just finished my 2`nd Gold K1 .It`s the one with the white background . I would appreciate any comments on the bike .Cant download pics again but its on Car and Classic as usual . This will probably be my last full rebuild as the quality of new parts is just not good enough . When you are spending upto 9k in parts you would expect a reasonably good finish to the product ,{chrome } .No matter who is selling either from this country or Japan the quality is iffy at best .  Will keep in touch though as you never know what may turn up as a project . Cheers , Alan .

CB750 / Starter Motor
« on: June 20, 2015, 08:13:15 PM »
Hi Guys,
Having now got to the point of starting the motor (k1) the starter ran ok on and off for about a week while testing but now runs very hot and slows down very quickly , (no plugs). There seems little resistance when turning the motor by hand so I assume the starter windings are dying . If so does anyone have a good starter to sell me? .I have looked at the ones DK are selling and they all seem to have been just hacked off the motor with no thought to the parts .I also do not think they are tested either . Please let me know asap as this is now holding up work on it . Thanks a lot , Alan .

CB750 / Warning Labels ,
« on: June 07, 2015, 06:06:41 PM »
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know where to place all of the warning labels to my K1 ? .I`ve looked in various books but none seem to show what goes where .I have now finished the frame and engine and it is now time to put on my label set .As this bike has cost a fortune to do so far I do not want to muck it up now .Any help would be appreciated . Thanks , Alan .

CB750 / Built bike pics
« on: April 30, 2015, 03:28:12 PM »
Hi guys ,
Just a few pics of bikes I have built over the last couple of years . Now my K1 has turned up and is already stripped and the work has started . It`s a pity that the bike had fallen over at some stage (not told about ) and smashed the generator casing . More expense . Never mind as they are very easy to strip down and extremely old school in design but made out of very over engineered metal and everything is heavy . Looking forward to doing this one . Cheers  , Alan .

CB750 / Yamiya Bodywork.
« on: April 23, 2015, 03:39:38 PM »
Hi Guys ,
I have just purchased a 1970 K1 for a complete refurb job . I was wondering if anybody had ever bought the complete bodywork kits from Yamiya ? and if so what was the quality like as its a lot of money to lay out on something you cannot see in front of you .  Other questions will be following on when the bike turns up . Cheers , Alan .
