Thanks all, it was the trim on the tail around the rear light, I will try and play the cracked one first and see what result I get before I go onto the `lost zing one`
Many thanks for your help

CB750 / Re: Reg number
« on: July 02, 2013, 08:52:38 PM »
I had this problem on an imported box of bits (Sorry, but was a lambretta and still have it), had done a complete build, got age/date verified from LCGB, applied for the reg and had to take it to the local vosa on a trailer who checked the eng and frame no,  I did get it moteed on the frame No first and insurance (they give you 30 days to get the reg No), insurance from Footman and James), I gave them the insurers a call when the reg took longer than expected, and they extended the 30 days for another couple of weeks till I got the reg and got it transferred to reg No. Very messy, cost was about 50 quid from memory for the reg and paperwork.  paperwork is a must which you can get from the local post office. Also note that you cannot sorn your bike either as you must pay at least the 6 months duty. hope this helps

CB750 / Re: Anyone use a lithium battery on there CB ??
« on: June 26, 2013, 06:09:22 PM »
Hi, li-ion can be a tad funny, as not only should it be charged correctly, but the discharge should be as well, I am not sure how this works on a bike, but with cordless tools, you cant fit a li-ion battery to an old tool that was designed for ni-cad, or nmh, as the discharge could cause problems with the life of the battery, and as said before, overheating and catching fire. I would suggest looking into this in more detail first? maybe try and contact a battery manufacturer? the three main ones for these are Panasonic, Sony, and energiser. I know Panasonic are based in Bracknell Berkshire.
hope this helps?

CB750 / F1 1976 main stand ?
« on: June 23, 2013, 03:06:12 PM »
Hi, after a lot of painstaking work, I managed to get the main stand off the bike by cutting off one side of the pin (seized solid) heat and a 10 ton press managed to get the rest of the pin out, but the sleeve(/bush/bearing) came out as well with the pin, both shot to bits. does anyone know if you can get the sleeve (bush/bearing) separately?, if so, any ideas where please.
many thanks
John

CB750 / Re: How do I Remove scratches from plastic lenses
« on: June 14, 2013, 11:02:39 PM »
hi, a lot depend on how bad they are!! if there not too bad then you can use a fine cutting compound like `T cut`Farecla G10, Festool 5,000 speedcut, with a felt attached to a drill (must be variable speed) use the drill at a very low speed so you don't build up any heat (make sure you use enough compound, and add some fine spray of water if it starts to dry out) and this should work out fine. ideally use a small 90mm polisher at speed 2-3, but most do not have access to these. If the scratches are bad, then you may have to use very fine abrasives first, 1,000g, 1,200g, 1500g. do some tests first on some plastic (acrylic glass) to get used to the speeds that would be ideal and feel the glass every so often to see how hot it gets (can get warm, but not hot), Hope this helps

Thanku for both for your help, I am interested in the seat please, the colour of the rear is not important as I will repaint the whole bike anyway. Chrome bits gone to chrome yesterday (12 weeks wait) please can you email me with some pics and price, I live near Clacton on Sea (Essex) so maybe would need to post? or can arrange for courier??
Many thanks again

Thanks for your help, I have the original foam in good condition, so if the base is the same, I can fit the foam and a new cover so all will be as `original` as can be?

Hi All
I am new to this forum, and am in need of some assistance please. I need a seat for my 1976 CB750 F, there is one on e-bay from a 1979 model, but I am not sure if this would be correct for the bike? it comes with the rear plastic cover which is also good as mine has a break in it. can anyone help please.
many thanks
john
