CB500/550 / Re: Oil pressure relief valve removal
« on: Today at 07:57:34 AM »
Trigger had one stuck, or wrongly assembled from new and the pressure cracked the oil filter housing so i doubt yours is stuck solid.
The bolts inside the cam cover O ring should have copper wasers under the heads and the brackets for the end caps alloy ones

The full Honda manual is there but you have to start with the 500 then all the supplements till you get to your model.
No real order for stripping but if you are going to do engine work it makes it easier and lighter to get out if you remove the head and barrels first.
Get an impact screwdriver with JIS bits and a 3/8 drive socket set with both long sockets and six sided

I ccan do you a nos rotor and the main jet leaf springs do appear on a US website when in stock but only in sets of 4, stainless and not cheap.
Can pprobably find a used spring
But these and the rotors are now like hens teeth so not cheap pm me if interested.
Ask nurse Julie if Trigger has any of the stator contacts left he had etched a long while ago.
Do you mean the primary chain sprocket on the shaft? Never seen one worn

Like i said the taiwanese manufacturers did not care and put on whatever the buyer wanted

All the original cables i saw in the 70's had a black lining on the inner cable and should have had a white inner coating on the outer but you only saw that if the outer was damaged.
I also know for a fact that the taiwanese manufacturers at the time would package anything in the way the buyer asked, i bought many Yamaha FS1E cylinders in packaging identical to original.
Honda cables normaly had the part number in white on the outer sleeve.
I doubt that Honda will do anything as you do not know where it originally came from, that dealer is gone so cannot provide purchase details and finaly time in stock

Looking at that i suspect the caliper is as bad so i would use a greas gun to pump the caliper piston out then thouroughly clean, reseal and new stainless piston.
Grease gun method

Standard grease gun remove the fitting that clips on the grease nipple.
Leave bleed nipple in
Remove the steel brake pipe from caliper and caliper brom bike
GENTLY screw the caliper pipe thread onto the grease gun N.B.  it will only go on a few threads as they are different BO NOT FORCE IT.
Pump away and watch the piston for movement.

This has never failed me but does leave the piston full of grease to clean out!

I dont believe Honda would design it so you had tofit to lower case and get opperating mech out of way to mate cases but i suppose anything is possible, none of the other hondas i have worked on 50cc tp 1500cc have done that

Sounds like the carbs need syncing, there is arie up of mine on here somewhere
Possibly tight, or loose tappet clearance.

You say you have cleaned the carbs, have you split them and had them ultrasonicaly cleaned?
