Saw some tank badges for the 550 for sale in a shop I was ordering from in Japan, £7.99 each. They were gold on black, 160mm long, 24mm wide, and screw centres at 67mm apart. As soon as I saw them I wondered if you'd be interested, free postage over £33, I bought 3 items, one a genuine Honda CB500 bottom end gasket set for £12.99, the other were the Honda logo badges for the alternator cover for the CB500 at less than half the price of DS. They had some sets of genuine Honda points and condensors for less than the price DS charges just for the points.
If the order goes through alright I may order some more bits, this was just a toe in the water buy.
very interested an putting a list at the minute.Those footrests Ken,after having a look the PO has done away with it altogether and used the hole for an awful exhaust stay, thing  Ill need the bar,two foot rests, the brackets and the gear change mech and brake pedal it looks like. if Im still measuring, where from and where to and I'll get on it and fire you some dims later on.

I’m about to try. Wintergreen and cleaning alcohol. I’m was hoping to permanently change these grommets characteristics to that approaching the OE standard rather than a temporary measure. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Be interested in the outcome of that when you've had go.....

Has anybody tried that wintergreen oil soak method yet, or whatever its called? I've not had a chance yet but it also sounds a bit too easy. anyone had a go?............Just as an alternative maybe?

Looks good Phil, shame about the fork ears, the replacements look ok but the bike would suit the originals better IMO.

You can buy the pivot pins in stainless as well Ted, might as well complete the look. Plus it stops them rusting.

Do you have a source for the correct SS front foot rest pivot pins please?

Flake Sunrise Orange. I've got a NOS side panel for a 550F in that colour. Code is R-2C-F.
It's extremely metallic with big flakes in the paint.
Is that the same colour that I think NJ has her bike in? (just twigged I could have asked her!) DOH!  Bryan, is the tank you have the one with the petrol cap flap on? I've seen so many bikes with so many swapped tanks with this on and that on and with this being a new project for me this year and I'm not tuned in yet to the shapes, silhouettes and details yet? If it is, what sort of money would you like for it as I've not really investigated this one yet to see what the yellow filler primer is hiding. I bought it and stuffed her in the back of the shed to jump straight onto once the 400 was done. I'm waiting for the tank to come back from the painters just now but using the time to gather bits for the project and finish off bits n bobs and shell be done. I've managed to keep The Long Haired General away from it for about three weeks but she did hear me fire her up for the first time since the rebuild the other day which brought much excitement and hassling I'm hoping to have her done and finished for the end of October ready for her birthday, shes had a rough year and this is hopefully going to be the start of good times for her. Shes going crazy with excitement, I love it! AND, its meant me sly-ing out of the washing up for ages .........Winning! Cheers fella's

Hi all, would anyone happen to know what the paint code is for that really nice orange that honda did? Its probably been covered before but I'd like to start a tank for the 550 and after much discussion about colours; she likes the orange, I like the light blue. Couldn't come up with an agreement So,..... we had a good long chat about it, a fair compromise was met........ and its orange!  I think it might even be metal flake or similar, I've only seen it in mags or on the net and presume it's a honda colour and I'm not going mad looking at a respray or similar? NB: I quite like the orange anyway but don't tell her!
