CB750 / Winter hack wanted
« on: November 19, 2016, 08:50:35 PM »
Does anyone have a cheap bike for sale?, I'm looking for something maybe 750 or above so that it can double up as a winter hack and 2 seater so that I can take the missus out, thanks Mark
(I've been looking at various bikes from Blackbirds Bandits and Fazers to Kawasaki Z7r's, anything other than a sports bike will do though)

CB750 / Best thing since sliced bread!

RST battery powered heated gloves, I got mine on eBay for £99 last pair but no doubt they'll get more, 2hours at full power, 4hour at medium, longer at min , nothing to wire in , no more cold fingers on that fresh winter morning ride, what's not to like, I'm out with them now, on min setting, they are very warm, it's 12 degrees ambient not exactly cold but after 20 miles my fingers are warm, they would've been cool by now .

CB750 / Carb float wanted
« on: October 01, 2016, 05:43:03 PM »
Does anyone have a PD carb float I can buy?, I thought maybe my needle valves needed replacing after a couple of overflows so bought some new ones but on fitting them earlier I noticed one float was heavy and weeping fuel so it's got a leak 😒

Other Bikes / New un!

Got my Ducati Scrambler today, over the moon with it, Ducati have got this bike absolutely right terrific fun (apart from the uncomfortable seat but I'm changing that soon, very soon!), if you've got a local Ducati dealer get yourself a test ride (especially you Hairygit, it might cure you 😄).

CB750 / Popping, poor running
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:46:15 AM »
Just when I need the bike for the distinguished gentlemans charity ride it develops a problem!, it started popping a lot on rundown, tickover uneven, No3 downpipe is getting warm not hot, I've just swapped HT leads 2 and 3 over, no difference, new plugs, no difference, raising tickover to 4k No3 pipe does get hotter accompanied by backfires, I'm hoping it's something simple like a blocked primary but not at all sure it is, here's the old plugs, as you can see the No3 porcelain is white, any thoughts greatly appreciated

I pick this up tomorrow, bought sight unseen against my usual rule, it was shall we say very reasonably priced (it's due belts), wanted one since I was a spotty teenager, I'll let you know if it's any good after my 8 hour road trip!😄

CB750 / Downpipes wanted
« on: June 24, 2016, 10:38:10 PM »
Does anyone have a set of old downpipes for sale?, the condition of the chrome doesn't matter, I want to fit a 4 into 4 system to make my bike a bit more CR ish, they will be painted black or wrapped so the condition other than being basically solid doesn't matter, cheers Mark.

CB750 / New drive chain
« on: June 20, 2016, 01:50:36 PM »
I need a new chain for my CR, the one that's fitted came with the donor bike boxed, it's the heaviest chain I've ever seen on a bike!, you could launch a ship with it!, it was still in the grease paper and DID box but must have been 30 years old, it's very quickly lost its suppleness though, I think the O rings may have perished , can anyone recommend a reasonable quality chain?, the sprockets have only done 900+ miles, cheers Mark.

CB750 / Hondaman clutch mod
« on: June 11, 2016, 04:10:26 PM »
I did the hondaman clutch mod this morning, it seems to have worked well, putting it in 1st now doesn't result in the bike trying to pull forward, finding neutral from first was sometimes a bit of a faff but it now selects effortlessly , had a minor trauma when I broke the clutch lifter plate refitting it but replaced it with the one from an engine I'm stripping, it used to clonk into first but of the ten starts I just did it only clonked twice, I still have to set the adjuster properly so maybe I'll get 100% once that's done, the above was with cold oil as well, so I'd recommend it if you have gear change issues, photos below show the extra holes I drilled in the clutch hub (2 extra holes per quadrant) and countersunk all holes including the stock ones, cheers Mark.

« on: May 30, 2016, 08:45:46 AM »
My Tacho drive seal has sprung a leak, does anyone know where I can get one?, David silver have on in their engine oil seal kit I think but I don't want to have to buy the whole kit if I don't have to, thanks Mark.
