The hole looks clear but I will check properly when I take it to pieces. I think if you squeeze lever you can see fluid bleeding back via that hole if its clear Dumb ? have you checked to ensure nothing simple is causing the lever (rust/whatever) not to return and also lubricated the pivot 333

I rebuilt my MS and its pretty easy - I used the DS kit as I wanted to keep the originality.
That said the kit is about the same price as their replacement Master Cylinder but as I said I wanted to maintain originality https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB500K0-FOUR-1971/part_41503/ As to not returning properly I am no expert but I wonder if its due to the second TINY hole in the base of the master cylinder being blocked. I am using spring clips which I don't think are the issue, the pipe is I am not sure they are black rubber like (fuel resistant of course). I dont really want to change the hoses right now as I don't think I can do it without puling the carbs. Maybe another easier solution would be a couple of new short lengths from the petcock with a "joiner" fitting of some sort 339

Every time I take the tank off the fuel pipes on the petcock see to have nearly glued themselves to the petcock tubes and its always one hell of a job getting them off again.
I have tried Vaseline on the tubes but that didn't seem to help. Just put them back on with a spray of silicone sealant and they slide on a treat but I know when I come to take them off again they will be "welded" on again Any prior experience/tips most welcome !! 340

Dunno know about Tangs but I have had no end of overflow issues and I have lost count of how many times the carbs have been off and on.
Twice I have bench tested with fuel only to put them back on bike and one of the sodding things would overflow again. In the end i replaced with ones from Cruzinimage and things have been OK since then 343

Have a small oil leak definitely coming from head (suspect O rings between barrel and head)
This is a new replacement head gasket and O rings from a recent top end rebuild so its not an age thing Trig did comment on a prior post that aftermarket O rings are often thinner than OEM so could cause this. What I wanted to ask, is if it is worth just slacking off and re-torquing the head bolts (I know this is often a should do after a new head gasket and I didn't do it) before going the whole hog and installing OEM gasket and O rings. Same happened with my K0 sent photos, vjmc letter etc etc but needed an inspection.
Pain for me was that I could only insure for 1 month on VIN but luckily got the inspection done and plate issued just within the month before insurance ran out |
