Hi all,
Cracking on with build of the 400 engine and sorting through the various boxes and bags it came in I found this little 'cap' of some kind.
No idea what it is - may well not be from the engine, just some detritus the previous owner threw in for good measure but I just wanted to make sure it's not some critical part that's dropped off somewhere in the engine.
Any ideas??
Cheers,
Andy

I thought it was plastic at first and was going to say it was the cover that goes over the kickstart knuckle but looking again it appears to be steel. I have rebuilt a few 400/4 engines and have never come across something like this!
Maybe someone else may identifiy it, Nurse Julie rebuilt her 400/4 engine recently so may have a better idea.
What's the prize ;D

If thar part was meant to be in my 400/4 engine.... It was missing 😁😁😁😁. Never seen it before on any engine I have seen up close and personal.

Looks like a blanking plug off something?

Thanks all,
I think it's probably something erroneous that just got dropped in the engine box but just wanted to check before closing up the crankcases.
Ka-ja - agree it looks like some kind of cap / plug but I couldn't see anywhere that it could have come from either.
Dave - the prizewinner can keep the 'whatever it is' and any other foreign bits and pieces left behind after the engine is finished.
Julie - I'll follow your lead and not stick it anywhere near the engine either.
Cheers,
Andy

Could it be a stray “puck”from a CB550 rocker cover?
