Went on a ride out last night to Porthcawl and met up with a few people from our club and a few others. The ride was marred by the 400 intermittently cutting out on 2 cylinders, 1,4 being the culprit. I rode home with a mate from the IAM on his Guzzi outfit and an IAM observer on his BMW. Again, the fault reappeared on the way home. Today, I checked the wiring to the coils, cleaned up some of the bullets, cleaned and gapped all the plugs. I hope that's fixed it. Apart from the hastle, a great ride and some excellent cod and chips.

Tidy bike is that, you'll have lots of fun, tearing up the tarmac.

A new V5 A refund cheque
Not too efficient at Swansea are they.

How hard it be to make them from pipe. Flare the end of the pipe using a suitable die and a press, then cut them in half.

Finally, some decent riding weather. Went out to Llandow (former WW2 airfield and now a go cart track) for a rideout, meet up and a brew. I needed that.

I just sold an electric fire on marketplace. I advertised it for £60, then I get the gormless questions and stupid offers. Is it working? What size is? It's all in the description, if they bothered to read it. Will I accept £30? No, bog off. The woman who bought it asked nicely if I could shave a tenner off. Sorry Mrs, I can't do it, I need the money. The landlord of my local needs the money and I need the beer, which is the same thing. I found the fire in the skip at work and it only took me 1/2 to fix so I'm happy about that.

An 80 year old man went to the doctor for a check-up and the doctor was amazed at what good shape the guy was in....
The doctor asked, "To what do you attribute your good health?"....
The old timer said, "I'm a biker and that's why I'm in such good shape”....
“I'm up well before daylight on Sundays and out sliding around corners, "shootin" sand washes and riding up and down the steepest, wildest mountains I can find at the crack of dawn”....
The doctor said, "Well, I'm sure that helps, but there's got to be more to it. How old was your dad when he died?"....
The old biker said, "Who said my dad's dead?"....
The doctor said, "You mean you're 80 years old and your dad's still alive? How old is he?"....
The old biker said, "He's 99 years old and, in fact, he went riding with me this Sunday, and that's why he's still alive... he's a biker too”....
The doctor said, "Well, that's great, but I'm sure there's more to it”...
How about your dad's dad?.... How old was he when he died?....
The old biker said, "Who said my grandpa's dead?"....
The doctor said, "You mean you're 80 years old and your grandfather's still living!”.... “How old is he?"....
The old biker replied, "He's 117 years old”....
The doctor was getting frustrated at this point and said, "I guess he went riding with you this Sunday too?"....
The old timer said, "No... Grandpa couldn't go this week because he got married”....
The Doctor said in amazement, "Got married!! Good Lord!!!”....
“Why would a 117-year-old guy want to get married?"....
To this the old biker smiled and answered, "Who said he wanted to?"....

+1 on the PTFE tape. Use it on the bleed nipple as well. It prevents it seizing

I know but it does make swapping shims easier. Wasn't there an engine where the shims are under the buckets instead of on top? That must be a nightmare to work on.

I've got mates that spend 1000s on a foreign holiday. After a fortnight it's gone. Good memories but it's over with. A restored motorbike will give many years of pleasure and a sense of pride and achievement and, the cost will only t appreciate with time.

I used to have a special Suzuki tool to depress the bucket to whip the shims out. It made the job 10 times easier.

While walking the dog I slipped on mud landed on my back, which is held together with Meccano anyway. Had X Ray's - nothing broken, TF, just soft tissue damage. Hence me taking loads of PKs.

Nah, I'm not like that. I don't see the need for salad and plates and all that extra frippery though. Meat comes off the barbie, straight into a bun. Extra onion and mushrooms that I've cooked earlier to fill out the bun a bit. Add your own sauce to taste. Straight into the mouths with no need for plates. Job done.
