Thanks Bryan, I'll ride it like a semi loony then, to be honest brakes will be the limiting factor as they're not that great.

It’s like that at my house Dom, best foot forward and all that.

Can of brake fluid in your pocket to encourage it to fire if it bogs is a handy thing to have if stuck. If only to limp home if it gets moody and gives up. It’ll be carbs so you might as well gob full to get it running if yer stuck. Just don’t give it heaps

I was quite tempted this afternoon but didn't get a chance between people visiting, how many miles should I do to being with and up to what rpm?  I still can't get a rev reading so I'll be guessing that bit.

I think I'm just worried it's going to leave me stranded down the bottom of a hill, I can only go downwards from my place

Sorted the leak out!

Before I tentatively try a road test should I try and fine tune my carbs or just take it down the road running rich as it appears to be?  I've got a Morgan Carbtune but I'm conscious of running it for too long statically when it's on new pistons and a rebore.

I'll get a quote first I think, I had my xs done by ultimate bike paint for £350 a couple of years ago

I'm considering doing my own paint job too, will spraymax 2k go over any aerosol base?  What kind of mask is needed to be safe?

Every time I visit the forum today its asking me to sign in rather than automatically, its also displaying like an early basic forum from the late nineties.  Anyone else got this problem?

1 rpm per 2 signals should be correct i think

That's what I initially thought Bryan,  more research needed I think.  At least I've got it to register some sort of reading

Sadly setting 4 made no difference, only getting a reading when I raise the revs

What doesn't Julie stock!  Took me a while but now realise you meant central heating, I'm determined not to load our pellet boiler until September at the earliest.

It's annoying that summer comes along and so many jobs need doing but good to see the 500 is pretty much done.

I'll give it a try later Ted.  So why don't they suggest connecting it up on the ignition side rather than from the coil I wonder, then again looking at the instructions I'm not surprised.

It says its suitable for both, I think it's reading around half the revs on setting 2 which is 1 rpm signal per 2 ignitions so u wonder if I change it to setting 4 which is 1 rpm signal per 4 ignitions

I'll try that Ted, I don't have a blue wire coming from my electronic ignition though, there is one with a blue shrink-wrap.

I'm worried about frying the gauge though.

*Well I threw caution to the wind, tapped into the blue sleeved wire from the Dyna S and got a rev reading!  Not accurate but I can work on that in the settings I think, it was a bit bouncy

The rpm is just the signal wire as the gauge is multifunction so has a supply and ground.  The signal connection is what myself and Roo worked out but could be wrong
