So who says you need a modern adventure bike to go camping....
When a 'traditional tool' still does a perfectly good job!

Looks great Andy, the perfect bike for the job I recon.
-
Looks a bit flatter then when I went camping on our Sammy miller meet a few years ago.
Mike the bike knows just how unprepared my dad and I was. ;D
-
Nice looking bike Andy.
Mick, you should of had a couple of more beers in the pub or booked a hotel. My hotel was lovely in the New forest ;)

My hotel was lovely in the New forest ;)
But not much over £15 a night camping for two (>60 rate) in the New Forest camping. Just back.

The cheeky monkeys charged us for 2 vehicles so 2 of us were charged £40 to sleep on a pitch no bigger then 6X4

If Trig had his way we would sleep in a bus shelter or on a park bench because it's FOC 🙄🙄🙄 It's me that likes a bit of comfort when away on bikes. I slummed it for years when I sailed, not unusual to spend a week or two on boats where the most modern convenience was a bucket on the deck !!!. I would slum it again now on a boat but not on a bike 😀😀😀
-
Camping with a car in good weather is definitely not slumming it these days. Slumming was camping with bike often two up, three to a tiny (usually wet) tent on trips over Europe...and I remember even them only with pleasure now!
-
Mike probably still has the picture of the tent I had to share with my dad that was tiny.
Thank god it didn't rain

found it two in the zigzag tent
It makes Andy's look huge

Yes, you do at your young age....the older you get, the more planning is needed. A week away on a bike for me would be like planning a Military Operation !!! I had to have 2 lists on the go just to plan 3 days away in Derbyshire 😪😪😪

Don't think my dad can do it anymore suffering from heat stroke coming back from Crich he got right stroppy and almost abandoned Peter.
I don't think I told him that ;D ;D ;D

Thought I saw Peter going back towards Crich when I was coming home?

Mick that is stupid. Just looked up what we paid for the hotel and it was £38 per night for the two of us :D

Good to hear everyone's experiences.
Oh, FYI, the tent is a Vango Tempest. Officially rated as a 2 man tent!
But it does pack up nice n small.
