CB500/550 / CB500 - K0 Stickers
« on: December 07, 2017, 04:21:14 PM »
Hi

My 1971 K0 doesn't have the HMC stickers on the side panels. I've bought some to put on but I've been told the early models didn't have them as standard which would mean my bike was ok as it is.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

Whilst posting, I have a brand new full set of stickers for a CB500/4 (including the stencil/mask for the black tank panel) - the chap I bought my bike from was intending to change its colour from black to candy gold but I have no intention of doing so - these were bought from Sunrise Graphics and are untouched. I've priced them up & new they cost £58 plus postage, I was thinking of £35 plus postage if anyone is interested.

Thanks

Geoff

CB500/550 / CB500 - I feel like I'm revving the nuts off it!!!!!
« on: November 09, 2017, 07:50:47 PM »
I think I'm just just looking for some re-assurance here.
I just can't get comfortable with how much I need to rev my CB500 to get it to perform.
I'm sure the problem is me, I ride an R1200GS, a 66 Bonneville & a 74 Commando & my last Japanese bikes prior to buying the 500 were a CB750 & a Z900 so obviously none of these need the revs the CB500 does, but I just can't get comfortable revving an immaculate 45 year old bike at 6000 revs & above - I'm frightened it'll burst!!!!!!!
Any re-assurance/comments would be most welcome!!
Thanks
Geoff

If anyone is interested I've just listed some parts, many NOS, I got with my CB500 K0 for sale on the members 4 sale forum, includes good but used tank, side panels, wiring loom, etc.

I also have a full set of NOS HM323 exhausts which I might sell if I get an offer too good to refuse.

Cheers

CB500/550 / CB500 Original Exhausts - what are they worth?
« on: August 01, 2017, 08:27:50 PM »
Hi

I've agreed today to buy a stunning 1971 build, 1972 UK registered CB500 K0 and I've been given first refusal to a number of brand new original spares.

These include a complete set of NOS genuine original Honda exhausts for the bike - How much would these be worth???

Thanks

Geoff

CB500/550 / 1971 CB500 K0 Colours
« on: June 30, 2017, 06:07:58 PM »
I'm looking at an early CB500 K0. The paperwork says it was sent from Japan in September 1971, first registered in the UK in early 1972. I'm told it was in the first batch to reach the UK. The bike is original and unmolested. Just 2 owners & seems to have excellent provenance.
The paintwork looks totally original and is in black. I can find photos of black ones on the internet but I can find no reference of this being a standard colour scheme for the K0. Does anyone know if it was, or have an explanation?
Many thanks
Geoff

Hi.

My name is Geoff & I've been a biker for more years than I care to remember. I ride a modern R1200GS, & also have a 66 Bonneville, a 59 Triumph Speed Twin, a 74 Norton Commando & a 61 Triumph Tiger Cub.

I had a beautiful restored CB750F from about 2001 to 2012 which I sold after I bought a Z900 and it's one of those "wish I'd never sold it" bikes.

As I'm not riding my old bikes enough I'm thinking about selling all of the old Brits except the Bonnie & buying a CB750 K1 I've been offered - and that's where I need advice!

I've yet to see it in the flesh but pictures of the bike look stunning, it has been restored to a very high standard & has won prizes, but whoever restored it apparently didn't stamp the numbers on the new frame & engine casing. It's registered with the DVLA & on the road - so no issues there - the asking price is right for the bike but what about resale potential? If I'm cautious won't a potential buyer years down the line be equally wary? I need to check everything out & see the bike for myself but, assuming it's all legitimate, what are peoples views? Any advice/comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
