Dear god.
The ONLY thing on that advert that gave a crumb of hope were the words 'One Off' ...... If I thought there were more of these out there I wouldn't sleep at night!
He has anohter 400-4 for sale. Low miles...37,000 is 'low miles' apparantly. But.....and this was the best bit...
"James may from top gear actually owns one of these and these bikes have won fromula 3 and formula 2 races and even won the Isle of Man races . These bikes were only made for 1 year as is the 1978"
which makes his red one worth 6K.
Oh..and it's an 'ex film' bike....from a film I have never heard of, and when I google it...all I get is multiple ads from this same guy selling this bike and an Indian Bullet used in the film....
Think I will pass....... or puke.

Delusional! 😫
-
Why? And I thought that Hayabusa that Dell boy is building on YouTube was bad ;D
-
I could comment. But I think I'd better not.
-
Takes all sorts and there's a bum for every seat... Somewhere! ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's an eBay scam. I know of the girl that owns the bike.... I'm not sure if she is in on the scam as well though..I enquired about the ex film 400/4 just to be nosey and got a right load of abuse hurled at me.... Which I promptly hurled back at them 😁😁😁😁😁

It take all sorts to make a world I guess. Look at Tracey Emins half made bed or Damien Hirsts pickled sheep, in what way are they works of art?
Talking of pickling, I think you'd need to be pickled to buy that, but perhaps someone might?

I think the picture of the guy in the first pictures sums it all up - a N*b!

. I think it's a scary picture Phil, not only does he look a Nob but would you buy a bike off of that man.... I certainly wouldn't.

His wife has probably been on his case to get rid of it, the conversation must have gone something like - "yes love, it's up for sale with lots of nice photos on eBay"......

Holy crap, just off to rinse my eyes in bleach
-
No, just no
-
Fuel tank fine extinguishers have a "shirt off valve (sic).
-
Need to scrub my eyeballs with a wire brush and gunk them.
-
Sure, I think it's a shame to do that to any innocent bike, but it IS his bike, and being a brass player for the last 50 years I'd like to hear what that contraption sounds like ;)

Y'know, some people create choppers, cafe racers, change the exhausts, fit different wheels etc. Some like it, some don't. It's their machine, (hopefully), and they are making their statement, no different to wearing clothes of varying fashions. As I have been accused of having a warped sense of humour, I would dearly love to see this turn up at a VMCC meeting as it's eligible, and yes I am a member but not too much of a purist, I could never understand grown men having emotional orgasms when looking at some restored piece of "Grey Porridge" that in its heyday you wouldn't have given tuppence for! Motorcycling's a sport for the free, and the free-thinking. As it's lockdown Sunday, consider this to be my sermon of the day. Stay Safe, Michael.

More a waste of trombones I would say.
If you are into 'steam-punk', this is more inventive.

Now that...I do like!
Made out of scrap stuff....rather than ruining something....that's creating something.
It's stupid, but I like it.
To my eye, though, the tromboned 400-4 was just a waste of something that could have looked so much better. Also....it appears from Julie's post...the guy claiming to be selling this stuiff is a scammer. But....he's a film star in a film I have never heard of that supposedly comes out this year....so that makes the bikes worth a lot more.
Not to mention the race history...which means he at leat typed 400-4 into Wikipedia.....
-
my bike was photgraphed with models and used in London Fashion week, does that make it worth more, I think not.

That really is interesting.
The two differ in that the modded 400 is just trying to look like something, and wasting a decent piece of engineering.
As the Lister diesel really IS something made from what would be considered unsuitable parts by most measures.
Hugely different psychology, cocking something up vs real creativity.

We have these on the disused railway walk by the River Witham from Woodhall Spa walking towards Lincoln
One of my dogs , Peggy, is fascinated by them.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200503/2dc9e263adc21ad20a8cbf4d3fcea286.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200503/36ce690b8ef38fdcaf966b3fd9904484.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200503/c8c1866c2ae471cc373529764441b6af.jpg)

Lister bike - creative and interesting guy assuming it wasn't a vincent or something before😜
400/4 traverstey - whoever did that was just a t**t by any measure.
-
If you wana diesel Royal Enfield built a few experimental Crusaders (i think, may have been bullets) with a small electric start diesel, saw one in a sort of museum in Walshingham Norfolk when on holiday several years ago
-
I have a spare rebuilt 1936 Lister D engine . Build a bike and start a club. Or should I just use it for the pond pump. ;)
-
I wonder if those are the biblical trumpets of Jericho? :o

Astonishing!!!
I've had to go look at the description again - please tell me I'm wrong when reading about the "petrol tanks"! You have to rotate them to vertical to fill them? then lower them back down to lock in place? No! I must have misunderstood? I don't see how else you would fill with petrol, they certainly have vents fitted with copper pipes on top. "lock in place" I'm guessing means the two belts?
WOW!!
-
Yeh Bezzi mates! :)
-
In the description it claims to have "shit off valves" too ;D just what you'd expect for such a design.
Also uses "Trumbones" but it could sound better if Trompets were used ;D
-
does it count as substantially modified for the MOT exemption? ;D
