Same. Made a small plate to bring it back towards the front of the bike.

It’s been discovered that over 55’s suffer less side effects than the younger generations.

It’s not clear why though.

But beware, it’s also been documented that more side effects are experienced with the second dose.

I can’t remember the exact science behind it but anti freeze doesn’t break down in the body naturally and slowly poisons you because it can’t leave the system. So the highest strength alcohol available is used to convert the anti freeze into a substance that can be excreted from the body.

Back in my hospital pharmacy days anyone that had taken an overdose of anti freeze would be treated with high strength alcohol, or an unlicensed infusion from abroad costing thousands.

Its the "stiction" of the oil being pressed out of the friction plates under spring pressure. Be a bit mor viscious with it. Put it on the centre stand, put it in gear so the rear wheel is spinning, rev it up with the clutch lever in to about 5000 and stand on the back brake OR tacke the cover off and clutch apart

Bryan is spot on. I had exactly the same issue and this freed it off. A couple of back brake pushes and this should work. Good luck.

Strange indeed. I’ve bought two bikes from them. CB500/4 that I paid a reasonable price for, and a CL350 that I got for a bargain comparably. They couldn’t believe the price I got the CL for, congratulated me themselves!!

I’ve got one of these and they are great. Takes no time at all to blow the water out of the nooks and crannies

So thankfully it seems it’s the washer on the oil tank drain bolt leaking rather than the oil hose, I’ll replace the washer at some point and see if it makes a difference.

The seats currently with a local upholsterer getting sorted, have received a Morgan carbtune pro so I’ll hopefully have the carbs dialled in soon (unable to work on it this weekend though).

The carbs are still dumping fuel seemingly randomly. I’ll put the bike away and switch the fuel off, tinker around with a few things and still no fuel dumped.. but when I come back into the garage the next day there will be fuel ok the floor. Sometimes it doesn’t happen for a few days and all of a sudden it justs dumps the fuel whilst sat doing nothing...

They floats seem ok, if they were at incorrect heights or whatever surely it would just overflow straight away?

I’ve had this recently on my 500. At first I thought I left the fuel tap on, but realised that the fibre washers in the petcock housing had failed and were leaking fuel through the tap down into the carbs. They would then overflow onto the garage floor.

Quick test is to lift the fuel tank, and place it on a flat surface with a tray under the petcock. If the petcock is switched off but fuel starts gathering in the tray, there’s the source of the problem.

Hope this helps.

Never believe everything you read, and the threads should be level with the nuts  ;)
What even the delivery note  ;)

Nothing!
I was in a engineering company a month or so ago. When a guy bought a engine in from his BSA with a bill of full rebuild. He had bought the bike off fleabay and the engine had blown up within 300 miles, and had bought the bike with the understanding that it had just had the engine fully rebuilt.
As i moved to the side of the counter, the owner of the company looked at the bill and said, That is not my headed note paper   :o :o

WOW!!! Cheeky b*stards!

CB500/550 / Fuel Petcock Retaining Screw Washers
« on: June 03, 2018, 07:00:23 PM »
Hello,

I’m after a pair of washers that are used within the fuel petcock with the retaining screws.

CMSNL affectionately call them ‘Packing Cock’. Item number 9 on the parts picture.

David Silver are out and I didn’t want to spend that much at CMSNL on just two packing cocks. Anybody know where else I can source these or does anyone have a couple for sale?

Cheers, Alan.

Misc / Open / dent repair
« on: April 07, 2018, 07:39:22 PM »
I can recommend someone. He does paintless dent removal and the work is amazing. Funnily enough I used him for a dent in my blade.

His name is Richard, works from his garage at home based near East Grinsted. You can either drop the tank off or post it to him.

See details below. Decent guy and will happily chat with you about your dent and what’s best.

Nice looking bike in the flesh. Great to see you guys as well and putting faces to names. And getting the exhaust to its rightful home!

Call me during the week James if you have any luck.

Alan
