Misc / Open / Interesting David Silver Article

Link to DSS article.

If the article is correct the replica CB750K0 HM300's he is selling are made by Yamiya in Japan. If so will it  save on high shipping costs / customs charges when you buy them direct . Wonder if he is going to stock their Ducktail seats and covers? The ones they currently sell I think are made by 'bobtheseat' (Moretti) in Stroud UK.

Misc / Open / 3rd UK CB750K0
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:12:01 PM »
If you follow this link from USA site.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=118045.25

It details this;

Quote:-  "to cut a long story short we exchanged a few emails and i spoke to him on the phone abit and what another genuinley nice bloke and a proper racer....he told me he had the 3rd cb750 that was imported to the uk and within 2 days it was parted and the engine was in one of his sidecar outfits??? (sorry if thats ruined your night)
so dont bother looking for that one one?
and because everybody was crashing them back then he made back the purchase price by selling the rest of the parts because honda were not carrying the spares so soon after uk launch???"

If it is indeed true seems that the 3rd UK 750K0 never made it to the road (well as a road bike anyway)!!

CB750 / This looks Like a Sandcast to me !!!
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:38:03 AM »
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330585694993&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123

Looks like a fairly  unmolested  Sandcast and that double cut fender looks pretty good to me!!

Not going to bid though - will stick with my genuine UK diecast - we never got any Sandacasts here apart from the 'Brighton Show Bike'

CB750 / CB750K0 in Santana Story on BBC4
« on: June 12, 2011, 11:07:18 AM »
Did anyone catch the fleeting shot of a Blue/Green CB750K0 in the Santana Story on BBC4 on Friday night. It was in the bit where they all arrived at the studio to record Santana4 on motorcycles etc. There was also another shot of another CB750 but this was customised. Blink and you will miss it though!

CB750 / Oil Hoses K and F
« on: January 31, 2011, 08:11:14 AM »
Hi everyone,

I recently got some really nice oil hoses from a 1975 K model from the US .Very expensive but nice condition plus I got stung for import duty and Royal Mails fee. One hose is longer than my original K0 hose and ChrisR spotted this and told me they are probably from an F model (with the 392 part no not 300).

My K0 hose is 175mm between ferrules and the USA bought one is 195mm.

I appreciate that at one point in production the K model  hoses were moulded to a curved contour to match the installation because of the straight hoses kinking and restricting oil flow.

The guy I bought them from is adamant they came friom a K oil tank not an F. Anyone know the differences? I need to clear this up with him ASAP. He does seem an honest guy though.

Cheers!!

CB750 / Grooving bearings
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:14:47 AM »
Saw a thread on Pete's restoration of F2 but don't want to hi-jack his thread.
Does anyone know the engineering procedure for grooving bearings like the Honda gearbox ones? I appreciate that these are C3 high speed bearings and you can get a standardd grooved type but the groove is too wide. Another option I have seen described on the SOHC site is to make a special modified half ring retainer which is stepped.

i have access to full engineering facilities part from centreless grinding.

I do appreciate you can get the special bearings from Honda  so that's another (expensive) option. Well I am a Yorkshireman after all!!!!!

BTW just read the MCM 'Engine Analysis' from '74 which says not a sign of roller bearings in the SOHC 750 engine. They must have forgotten about the two caged needle roller bearings in the primary drive assembly?

Cheers!!!
