The procedure is. Take your V5 to the Post Office. Give it to the Teller. Tell them you want to change the taxation class to Historic vehicle. They do the rest. No money to pay. Simple as.

I can't see it changing. As the Police don't like the fact that
ANPR can't read them. Unless I'm mistaken.

The First one listed is the same as the one on my 67 CD175.
Which would be fine.
The second one is the style I'm after.
The third one.  Is the one I'm avoiding at all costs!
As for the tail light mounting hole spacings.  The difference is so small. Makes me wonder why the botherd.
Thanks again. Your input is appreciated.

Ah this is it you see. I don't fully understand the intricacies of the back light thing. I know some CB750k,s had the small rounder tail light same as my 67 CD175 sloper. Some have the standard squarer ubiquitous Honda tail light. Then there are those Horrendous huge US jobbies. But I don't know which has which. Did all models in the US have the big lights? Or was that only required in certain states?
I'm thinking this could be a bit of a minefield.
I have access to a pile of brackets which have come off US bikes. So I think I will have to go & do some measuring. As they mostly look the same but the bolt holes for the tail light
Are slightly differently spaced.

Very good information. Very well put.
Cheers Nigel. I now know which way I'm going.
No pun intended.

Below 4,000rpm  eh. Maybe that's why I never had problems. My riding style has changed since then though.

Thanks for your offer. Hopefully I will have found what I need. But if not I'll give you a nudge.

Good tip cheers.  It's bound to be superior to the standard item.
I have read on here about the CB charging system struggling to cope with H4.
When I had my F1's in the 70/80's I used 100/65w H4 in the Cibie without any problems. I did have a relay though.

Subtle differences don't really matter. As I'm not making a sacred cow. I have a shed full of those. I'm not a speculative motorcyclist . I don't see them as investments,  just motorcycles to be ridden. But I cannot ride dogs, the have to as clean & tidy as possible Most of my others are as per factory. But my K1 is different. IMO. There are plenty of perfectly restored CB750's about. When you've see one, well...
My bike will not be original. But will be authentic. Cosmetically tweaked using only components available in the early 70's. I'm trying to mimic the CB750's I saw many German visitors to the TT ride at that time. So anything from that period is fine. As long as it does not involve the huge US tail light.
Speaking of lights. I'm now regretting giving away my Cibie Z beam. I can't even remember who to. Sigh.
Thanks again for your inputs. If anyone know where I can find the bracket of which you speak. Please let me know.
Regards
Sean.

If I can find a UK bracket, I may well have to drill holes accordingly. But I'd really like to avoid it if I can.
Plus. I'm not sure I could find a UK item.

But an MOT is pretty pointless really. As it only certifies that the vehicle was roadworthy at the time of the test.

I get all my date certs through the Aircooledrdclub club. £15 for Yams. £30 for anything else.
Also it is legal to ride to MOT without a numberplate. As long as it is insured on its frame number.
As for using Carol Nash. I'd rather shove wasps up my arse!

Morning Bryan.
All the rear guards on ebay appear to have 3 holes set in a triangle patern.
I know the UK spec CB175K2 has the same pattern. But I'm not sure about the spacing. Maybe a 400f or CB350 item would do.

Hello.
I will be buying a rear mudguard for my K1. But I don't know the intricacies of what is available & what is not.
So I'm asking. Which parts do I need to avoid having to use the Butt ugly US spec rear light?
Is there any light/numberplate brackets from other models
That will fit?
You help is eagerly awaited.

CB750 / Re: Candy Blue Green.
« on: March 18, 2018, 12:08:57 PM »
When I say shine I'm not talking about the surface gloss.
I was meaning the way the Candy catches the light.
For instance. Cars 20yrs ago were a dull slightly sparkly effect, whereas now the light really bounces back through the colour coat.
A long time back. I gave my T500 to my painter to respray Candy Lavender. He was using Standox paint at that time.
He said he got the colour right but. It looked wrong when on the piece. Standox sent my sample of Candy Lavender to their Barcelona factory to get the match. The explanation they gave was. It was due to the modern base coat using prisms rather than random flakes.
The same thing happened with my CD175A. They sent that one to Milan.
This is the basis of what I'm saying. It may be incorrect.
But paints are brighter now than 45 years ago. It about the only thing that is, LOL.

Here's a thing with modern Candy colours.
Even though the shade can be matched. The shine cannot.
If you compare a original factory painted piece to a item sprayed using modern Candy. The colour maybe a close match. But it will light up completely wrong. The original sparkle primer contained random shaped flakes of metallic.
Where modern paint has identical perfect prisms, which reflect the light far more effectively. Making restored bikes of the right colour. Look completely wrong.
