CB350/400 / Brake pedal spring woes
« on: July 09, 2018, 11:29:16 AM »
Hello again, after having it established by fellow owners, that the swing arm fitted to my bike, is a JMC type. Because of the way this swing arm is constructed fouling of the brake pedal rod is an issue over a standard swing arm. To have an effective rear brake, I have had to invert the drum brake arm 180 degrees. The problem is with the brake pedal return spring. It is tensioning against the pedal the wrong way. Instead of recoiling when the pedal is released. It is applying tension pushing the pedal down a bit at rest. This doesn't seem correct. Would I be advised to junk the pedal arm spring, by solely relying on the spring on the brake rod tension adjuster. Along with the spring tension of the brake shoes as well? This would give a working rear brake. The brake pedal spring would give a more snappier feel. If I knew It could be fitted to work  with my JMC swing arm? Or can I obtain a different type of spring to do the same job?

Thanks for taking the time

CB350/400 / Swing Arm type and shock bushes
« on: June 27, 2018, 08:38:20 PM »
Hello fellow sohc owners. Thanks for confirming the cast wheels on my 400/4. I have another conundrum requiring assistance to identify it. It concerns my non standard swing arm, it is a box section braced type. Not unlike a Dresda, however where I see slotted ends for chain adjusters on online pictures if Dresda swing arms. Mine has eccentric cams for chain adjustment. Although in common with a Dresda it slots into the frame no problem, employing taper roller bearings. I am enclosing a photo for every ones perusal.

Also, I need to obtain some new lower rear suspension unit rubber bushes for the swing arm mount eyes and shock absorber. The measurement's : swing arm eye width 16mm swing arm eye internal diameter 22mm . Metal sleeve inside rubber bush length 19mm external diameter 12mm internal 10mm for a 9mm bolt.
I cannot find anything specific for my swing arm being non standard. I do need new rubbers as mine are dissintegrating.
I am having difficulty posting a picture. Will post later if I get requests

CB350/400 / Non standard wheels on my 400/4
« on: May 31, 2018, 12:50:04 AM »
Hello folks, I am at pains to try and obtain some information pertaining to the non standard 3 spoke cast mag wheels fitted to my 400/4 F1 model. This is the main reason I've joined the forum, in the hope to obtain some solid opinion.
I have trawled the net in the hope of  trying to find a picture. But alas without success. I find it hard to accept that no information isn't available. Given the fact the wheels were manufactured in volume, to justify the design and tooling costs, to make them.
They are standard size, and machined so as to carry the original front disc and rear drum components. I wouldn't say they were one offs for racing. They look quite customized. I can't post a picture of them with only 2000KB allowable file upload size, in the hope some one can shed some light as to what they are? There isn't any manufacturers casting codes or anything like a company logo. I am stumped. :-[

Thanks in earnest
