CB500/550 / Carb sync question
« on: July 20, 2024, 09:48:24 PM »
Am I missing something in all the carb sync guides,  I read them as wind out idle screw fully then set engine side gap using a small diameter drill bit (1mm).  This then means I can't bottom out the carbs though doesn't it?

CB500/550 / Weak spark?
« on: July 06, 2024, 11:39:52 AM »
I'm sure I'm missing something here but I'm having a few firing issues, currently no.2 and 4 are not firing well, if I remove a plug and hold it against the block it won't spark unless I hold it just close so that it arcs.  Touching I get nothing, what is the cause of this, a poor ground connection?

My brother has a 1939 Plover that he is restoring but is missing a couple of parts, does anyone on here know of someone who's into early
British bikes who may be able to help?

CB500/550 / Noise when turning ignition off
« on: June 21, 2024, 07:23:11 PM »
I've mentioned this before but not found out what causes it, every now and then when I turn the ignition on then off I get an airy pop type noise from around the seat/air filter area.  Any idea what's causing it?

Anorak's Corner / Daytona speed sensor compatibility
« on: June 15, 2024, 12:48:44 PM »
Before I send this thing back can anyone see a way to get a Daytona digital to analogue speed sensor work on a Koso digital gauge that came with a cumbersome magnetic sensor?  The gauge is a D64 with 3 wire sensor, the sensor is one that fits directly into a cb550 front hub which 3 wire lead.

Myself and Roo have banged heads over it but I think I'm of the opinion it's not workable, Koso and Daytona won't comment and Digital Speedos no longer have a tech guy apparently.

Thanks Dom

Has anyone got a 550f type, not k airbox lid, the type with a snorkel although I'm quite happy to just have the lid on its own.

CB500/550 / CB550F1 fuel tap
« on: June 05, 2024, 06:48:32 PM »
I went to service my fuel tap today on my 550 but have found its a cheap riveted shut piece of crap with no filter so I'm looking for the correct tap for a 550F1 but have read some conflicting information regarding number of hosetails and tap style.

Can anyone confirm which I should have and if possible a reliable source for new one.

Anorak's Corner / Koso gauge RPM set up
« on: May 29, 2024, 02:44:41 PM »
I've fitted a Koso multifunction gauge to my cb550 with the rpm wire connected to the positive of one of the coils.  I can't get it to register anything on the rev counter regardless of the settings I've entered.  Has anyone else on here any knowledge of Koso gauges or similar set ups?  Im trying not to bother Roo again😀

CB500/550 / Headlight reflector
« on: May 26, 2024, 06:26:01 PM »
Is a CB550 and 750 reflector the same? Mine on my 550 is a Stanley 001-1217 but a previous owner has fitted a strange bulb that has meant they've used an oil seal to hold it in place.  Can I retro fit an H4 Led to it?

CB500/550 / Relocating or alternative to ignition switch

Do any of you electrical guys know a good solution for my cafe racer build?  I'm looking to either relocate the ignition or change it to  keyless to make room for my centrally mounted gauge, any thoughts appreciated!

Project Board / Making space for the bikes
« on: May 04, 2024, 09:37:28 AM »
There's not really a right place for this but yesterday was concrete pour day for my workshop (day job) to make space in my current place for my bikes.  5m³ of concrete is quite a lot to move and level, I'm aching a bit today!
