I'm not sure I know what is going on here, I've never used a sealant before. Are they not airtight enough on their own or something?

If it is legal then it is also a loophole I'm sure. The law is such an ass at times.  ::)  Perhaps a test case is needed?

Misc / Open / The price of idiot light cases

I screwed the lid of my Pilot Light Console back on and a bit too tight as well, that awful sound of cracking had me stop and just in time, nothing I couldn't fix thank gawd. I just went on a hunt for the two plastic cases the lights sit in and I was astonished. None to be found on DSS and another place ask for £95.oo  :o  ... a guy could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas for that much,  ;D or get new shock absorbers instead etc etc. How the hell can two bits of plastic with a sticker on cost that much?

Madam girlfriend has just got a 6 month ban because she couldn't keep off that smartphone at the traffic lights.  :o I'm in for a busy 6 months me thinks, today's errands were too Chelsea and Shoreditch.  I came back from Shoreditch with a numb bum because I had a frozen cargo! ::(

Are CB550s cheaper to buy than CB400Fs? Some of them looked very cheap to me.

I watched the video, I did wonder if extending the leverage of that allen key with a hollow tube, a handle bar perhaps, would have made it less stubborn though?

CB350/400 / Seizing horseshoes

Much is said of CB400F cam tensioner arms (horseshoes) seizing up, but I don't recall anything being said about repairing them. I'm soon to find out if my own is truly seized up but will this mean I need to buy a new one, or can I get it fixed?

CB350/400 / Re: Elusive springs!

Oddly I can find both springs, not exactly cheap, around £20 for both springs. Quite a few outers but only 1 inner up to now.
You are better on google than me then!  ;D

In the case of the Bond,it could start the motor in reverse,
In the 1980s I had  a flatmate and one morning she kicked the starter and it went backwards,  :o it did that a few more times too. Apparently they were notorious for it.

I'm gathering up the gaskets, seals and cam system parts I want ahead of a planned rebuild in a couple of months, but something I just can't find anywhere, not even on CMSL is the two springs for the cam bar ( bits 53 & 54 in the image. After 46 years I feel they ought to be changed, but is that likely to be necessary? Strange that they are two sizes, does one fit over the other? Anyone know where or how to get them if they really are needed?
Should new piston rings be fitted as a matter of default while the engine is this open? Leaking gaskets is the main reason for this rebuild.

I'd have thought one Belfast would be enough in my lifetime, but hey, I have been to two. A few miles down the road from me HMS Belfast is moored on the Thames, I hope he doesn't forget to go there!  ;D
