Thanks anyway.

Due to slightly heavy hands I am now seeking to find a plastic interconnecting tube (small plastic pipe with 4 O rings).

Does anyone have a spare one lurking around?

Any offers of help much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation,

Rick

Apologies for confusion, the second jet is in fact the float valve seat.

Does anyone know the sizes of the 2 O Rings required for the jets? I know that the overhaul set is available but it seems rather costly when only the O rings are needed!
TIA

CB350/400 / MOTAD Fitting
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:44:09 PM »
I am embarrassed to be posting this ...........Who thought fitting an exhaust system to a bike could be difficult?

I am attempting to refit a Motad M4H system, have made several attempts to fit the pipes then the silencer, then tried fitting the silencer then the pipes, all met with failure! The bloody thing came off some time ago but now refuses to go back on.....The best I can get is 3 pipes to fit sucessfully but the last one is way off target. There only seems one way that the pipes will align for the silencer but then the silencer is way off line for hanging on the bracket.

Could someone please tell me the best way to get 6 individual items to live in harmony!!

Glad no one can see me blushing as I hit the Post button!!

Thanks and enjoy sniggering at my apparent ineptitude!

CB350/400 / 400/4 Tacho drive
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:45:55 PM »
My refurb of the 400 is going relatively problem free, just finishing the engine build and I have just found a most annoying problem that I can't seem to fathom out, I am hoping it is not an act of total muppetry on my part!!!

On attempting to replace the tacho drive gear into the rocker cover I dont seem to be able to get the guide sleeve far enough into its hole to permit the oil seal to be fitted correctly. I have checked the hole - No obstructions. It came out when I stripped it all down and it dawned on me...should I have fitted the drive from the inside of the rocker cover prior to refitting?  !!!

I am embarrassed having to put this in the public domain!!!

Wincing...Expecting a barrage of flak!

Thanks

Rick

Hi

I had the same problem on my 550 last year, the guys here were right when they said the dogs can break off, thats what my problem was. Bit of a pain having to pull the motor out but reasonably easy to fix though. It is now a joy to have them all back!

Hi,

Asking on behalf of a mate....Has anyone got a cam chain tensioner for a '78 CJ250T or knows where one might be available? He tells me he is struggling to find some spares for his restoration. Is there interchangeability between this and other models?

Many thanks

CB350/400 / 400/4 Seat
« on: December 12, 2011, 10:02:56 PM »
Hi,

I am about to commence the refurb of a 400/4 that has been sat at the back of my garage for several years, not too much work required but I will be replacing the seat that is fitted, providing I can find a decent replacement. It has a considerably lower front than the rear, I guess for those with shorter legs!

Is there much interest out there for such a seat? I have never seen one advertised anywhere before.

CB500/550 / On the road after many years of resting!
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:32:14 PM »
Hi All
At last I have managed to finish my latest rebuild, '72 500/4 frame with '78 550 motor and on its first run out to get an MOT I found that 3rd gear was nowhere to be found, just a false neutral. Can anyone offer any advice?
Other than that all was well, a gentle run to the garage and back (the long way round), I had a smile all the way, not sure whether that was due to the bike being so smooth, the sunshine or just wind!
Next up is the 400/4.
Thanks in anticipation of an easy fix............I bet there isn't such a thing for this one!!
