CB750 / Engine swapping.
« on: December 08, 2013, 11:01:01 PM »
This is what I've been up to this past week  ;)  I took the engine out of my F1 to fit in my 1970 cb750, the engine in my old 750 has been smoker on 1 or 2 pots for a long time and is burning oil,

my F1 has been off the road for a couple of years and needs a few things to put it back on the road , so I thought I might as well use the engine as its a good one,

I had to take the exhaust studs out to fit the earlier type stubs,  that was a job in itself  ::) I used the double nut method on some of the studs & a stud extractor on some of the others, 2 of the studs sheared off so I had to drill them out and helicoil the holes,

the rest of the engine swap went smoothly but these engines are flippin heavy and the take a bit of wagglin in and out  :P,

there was no one to help me so I had to use a van wheel rim and a board to get the engine out onto and back in again  ;) cheers Mick.

CB750 / Gordons Frame Kit.
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:41:23 AM »
Finally got round to dragging my F1 out from the back of the shed to fix a stripped inner spark plug thread yesterday,

i bought a Gordon Frame kit last year or the year before i can't remember ? so i needed to cut the frame to install it,

it was easy to do following the instructions, no special tools needed, masking tape, tape measure, pen, and a hacksaw,

last time i was inside this engine was 20 years ago fitting a cam chain @ 30,000 miles that time we had to take the engine out do the work and refit it,

CB750 / Spare Engine Rebuild.
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:51:06 PM »
Evening all, i've had this engine under the bench since 2005 and have robbed some parts off it over the years, so i thought i would drag it out and start pulling it

apart & see what i had  :-\, so over the last 3 nights ive been in the shed for an hour or so  ;)

it appears to be a F1 bottom end CB750E 2544770 with F2 Barrels and Head (marked 410 on the back of the head).

Rocker cover & cylinder head came off very easily, camshaft & towers have already been robbed, head gasket just lifted off not stuck to either surface ?

Barrells came off ok to, thats when i got a nice surprise its fitted with a Yoshi 812 kit  8) bores look very good and pistons look fairly new, the top lip of the

sleeves feel sharp to the touch ? maybe been recently rebored or honed?,

so far i've stripped everything off it and split the cases no major issues so far everythings come apart very easily,

my plan is to strip all the internals clean the cases and paint them and start rebuilding the engine,

can anyone see any problems with the F1 bottom end and the F2 top end and 812 kit?,

i'm sure i'll have plenty of questions as i get into this so watch out  ;) in the meantime heres some photos i've taken so far  ;), cheers Mick.
