Title: Petrol tap
Post by: Mitchv60 on January 06, 2013, 10:03:36 AM
Can some one clear spmething up fpr me.

Just in the process of doing an order from DSS and I need to get a new fueltap but somethings is a bit odd.
My bikes a K2 but the 3 500 models they have listed all have fel taps with an o ring that seals to the tank but mine is fixed by a nut as the 750 is.
Has someone cut and welded in this spigot or do you think this is an anomaly from Honda.

There seems to be a few other 750 bits on the bike like the switch gear and there I also think some of the wiring.
I could order the 750 tap but it only show's having one brass spigit although there is another hole, any ideas why.

Having had a look at CMSL website, there was a 500/4 K3 sold for general european market, which has the same thread as your tank, but only one outlet from the tap sams as the 750 tap at DSS, maybe as previously suggested your bike has at some point in its life been fitted with a different tank (550 K3?) although both the 500/4 K3 and 550/4 K3 only show ONE fuel outlet from the tap ??? It is easy enought to put a T piece in the fuel line to feed both pairs of carbs (same as 750F1), and at least it will solve your dilemma  :)

It's the same tap that's on my 500K2, I needed a replacement and bought the 750 K6 tap with one outlet from Dave Silver which worked fine. The part number for the original is 16951-374-671 which was fitted to the 550K2 and the early 550F as Bryanj states. They are discontinued but I did manage to buy a NOS one from America at a later date.

Thanks for the help chaps
The  picture above from DSS was the 750 so the same as what you suggested.
I've ordered it,so now I can get the tank bead bladted and the rust hole welded and I can add the sealer to the inside.
