A bike i owned some years ago, only rode up & down the road a few times, what a beast.
Most of the frame was still the 550, the bits added to make it off road are from a Kawasaki .
I sold it many years ago at the Badshot Lea jumble run by the VJMC, funny enough the chap that built it turned up & said it was road legal when he converted it.

A mate of mine told me he allways uses brick cleaner, spray it on leave it for a few minutes & wash off with water

Thanks guys for your ideas. I have tried white spirit. I will try the stuff Steve suggest. May need a long soak before i try & clean.

Bummer valves are bent, guides look ok, no cracks.   I do have 2 spare 500 four heads, can i take the exhaust valves from them? cheers Darren

Hi all, bike made a funny noise & broke down, had to be recovered home. Got to work on the engine today, found all the exhaust valves have hit the pistons & the static cam chain guide has broken in half.
Found the offer half wrapped around the crank between the cam chain sprocket & hivo sprocket.
Did manage to bash it off, also found 2 oil ways for the camshaft had bits of old o ring in, here are some pics, cheers Darren

I found if you gently pull the lever in a small amount, as in pull in release constantly, a very small amount so fluid does not squirt every where, you get small air bubbles released that eventually bleeds the brake. Has worked for me a number of times cheers Daz

Hi Pete, yes we did see you last year, my mate rode my other 550 & my son rode a 250 trail bike, shame we never spoke. Maybe next time.

Left Portsmouth at 6.45am & the Ace about 4pm, never got wet, just a bit of road spray as we left london, Daz

Done this mod to my 550 k0 years ago & still works well. You have to change manifold, front + rear rubbers & a little mod to choke cable bracket to make it fit idiot light / handle bar clamps, Daz
