Welcome Dave,

Saltburn is a nice place.  I quite often end up there on rides out over the North York Moors for fish and chips down by the Pier.

Welcome to the forum.  My first road bike at 17 was an RD200 too.  Which model did you have?  Mine was the 200B with the TLS front brake and teardrop tank.

The photo is not my actual bike, but it was the same colour.

After an early morning kick off, I met the new owner half way along the A66 to save him a long trip down to our place from Glasgow.  He was very pleased with the bike and I'm chuffed its gone to a good home as the gentleman concerned is a really nice fella.   I'll mention this forum to him and I hope he has a lot of fun with the bike.  As I said before I hope you don't mind me hanging around as I may well end up with another SOHC Honda before too long.

Thanks Dave, if I do get one I'll certainly give you a shout for advice.

I had a look on fleabay the other week, there was a couple, including one with a load of parts needing work, but it was down in the far South west, too far for a quick look and I've bought perhaps one too many bikes without seeing them in the flesh first.  I'll keep my eyes open, there's no rush and knowing me I'll probably end up with a polar opposite to an RS, but one is on the shopping list.

All loaded up and ready to depart my 550 is off to a new home at the weekend.  I will be sad to see it go, but that leaves a gap in the garage for another project for the coming winter.  I haven't got a clue what that might be yet, but I do fancy a CB250RS single.

Believe it or not myself and wife #1  went to Sicily and back on one in the early 1980's, the little bike never missed a beat.

Its now on fleabay.  If you have an interest, forum members should PM me on here and I'll make a substantial discount over the listed Ebay price.

I picked up the VFR this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the 60 odd mile ride home.

First impressions are it's very much as I recollect my last VFR was, i.e. a very competent all rounder and considering the years that have elapsed since I had my last example, this one doesn't ride like an older bike. Its very sharp and focussed and is a joy to ride.   Previous owners have saved me doing various mods as they are already in place.  Namely heated handlebar grips, an MRA screen deflector, the Reg/Rec has been replaced with an uprated one and there is a nice sounding Remus exhaust can fitted.  The rest of the exhaust, whilst I don't think its made of stainless steel, looks in good order.  The bike only passed an MOT last week so it should be OK for a while at least.   Details like the pillion handgrips and the seat hump, even the toolkit are all there and in good shape.  I noticed the oil feed pipes have also been changed for stainless steel items at some time.  The only thing the bike will need in the near future is a front tyre which was noted as an advisory on the MOT.   The rear tyre is almost new.  All in all I'm one very happy bunny.   For a short time at least I now have 4 bikes in the garage, although the CB550 will be departing for pastures new before the end of the month.

Thanks for letting me know chaps.  I'll probably put it on ebay as I've sold my F2.
