Title: DSS Headlight
Post by: Davelu88 on January 31, 2020, 11:51:31 AM
Hi All , picked up my 550  K1 last night as been stored in a mates garage while my i moved & had a new garage built, it was dark when rode home & the 1 candle watt powered bulb  ;D did little to help on the country roads. Has anyone used the new headlight glass & halogen bulb DSS sell & if so are there any charging issues.
Regards Dave

Hi Dave,

having the same bike as you  ;) - some time ago I posted my experience here : http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,19777.0.html
Now after ~2000 miles with it - no charging issue unless low speeed cruising in the city, stopping on each traffic light.

Are you sure you wasn't riding with just the side light on like I tried to do across the New Forest in the dark 4 years ago ( I forgot to turn main headlight on) 😭😭😭

I ordered a pair off EBay for a classic mini. About £25 the pair, my mate had one for his Triumph.
Fitted perfectly in my 550 in minutes.

I fitted the DSS spares one to one of my bikes. It is fine, but a bit pricey. Last bike I did I got a standard unit like SteveW and fitted that. Needed a small mod to the back. Never had a problem with charging, but often charge when they are in the garage for a week or two un-used.
