Hi Dave

Put your location in your profile and it will appear on the left of the screen and save all those "where are you?" posts.

We also like pictures!

Are you a member on sohc4.net? (most of us are)

Steve

There's a section of your profile that lists gender, age and location. You don't have to complete gender and age if you don't want to, but location certainly helps.

And I'm a 500 fan too. What's the problem?

Hello, I'm on the other side of the river, if you need a hand with the bike let me know, the engine can't be much different from my 400 one.

steve, i'm lookin at profile but it wont let me click on it,more like information than access !!!
hi bryanj,snagged yer with me 1st cast :D ;D
she's an f1,and she was a daily hack for a mate of mine till he started gettin oil in the pot/s..he stripped it down as far as the head, but noticed the oil pipe jets were missin so he kind of blamed that and just left it,he knew i loved 550s so let me have it,shes had a rough life.hammerite silver/black,most nuts rounded/mole grip marks[breaks my heart]tank an panels rough sprayed with no laquer, but i dont care she'll get tlc now..
so will the oil jet pipes missing affect oil in pot or is it the rings ???

cheers guys
dave ;)

Hi Daveyy and welcome.

Is your bike a CB550 F1 or a 500/4?

There seems to be some confusion on the board.
Title: Re: new kid
Post by: Bryanj on December 03, 2009, 06:39:46 AM
Not sure what you mean with the oil as the 500/660 oil restrictors were in the barrel dowels at the base gasket level

my bad bryanj.lookin in the haynes it gives info on both 400 and 550,it shows oil jet pipes running either side of the cam,as the rocker was all ready off i assumed they were lost, but now i'm leaning toward the notion that their on the 400 only ::)did i explain i'm a novice ;D :D

I'm in Liverpool, seen only couple other 400's in recent years over here, a red one in Bold St and a red one at the sprint at Aintree.

Welcome to the site.

I loved all of my Honda fours...until they bit me. I still have the scars from my offs on my various Hondas.

It was because of the ease of maintenance on the 550 which made me modify my 750 frame.

Plenty of enthusiasm on this site,as well as the Yank site.

Hi davyy, could have been me, had a good few run outs over on the Wirral last year, usually ride out with a couple of mates on gsx 1400's, my 750 is darkish red with gold badges and tank stripes, are you hoping to have your bike ready for the new year ?
Regards ianmck.

Had a ride out to-day, Rhug farm (near Betws y coed, Llangollen, Ponderosa and back through Helsby Frodsham. Cold but dry and clear, saw a few bikes out but not many, enjoyed.
Take care, regards ianmck.

Good to hear I'm not the only bike out and about at this time, I do tend to just ride the 20 miles of the A470 to work though. Might come along in the new year sometime if I get one of the sohc 4's going well enough, north Wales is a bit far for my 125's on top of commuting milage and the stroker seems doomed to holing pistons and eating gearboxes regardless of what I try. I miss having the 500 in regular use- Anyone else here got a 500/4 up to 1060 000 miles?

well done ianmck, sounds like you had a goodun.
i do enjoy the bacon/egg batches from rhugg but i've noticed the lamb burgers also do well [maybe next time].
normally head for bala after there,it's a good runout with great roads.
