As you can see from the amount missing from the picture Tim, most of mine was replace. To be honest most of the original brightwork was just scrap. Had a price to do the back mudguard and it was 50% more than a replacement as the rust pits were so deep. My fork stanchions are pretty rusty behind the headlight ears and shrouds as its not chromed but the working area is spot on, so think I will de-rust with a brass wire wheel and just treat them. To be honest I've got to economise somewhere as the rebuild is going to cost way more than the bike is worth ::)

Finally got back on the 350 project. Have got the black stuff out for powder coating at PX Wheels in Poulton-Le-Fylde. Had him do my 750F2 and he made a cracking job of it. Also says it will be ready Wednesday next week, that's a one week turnaround. Not got it back yet but he only took 10 days to do the 750 so its looking good. The chromings gone out as well, opted for RS Electroplating as he's a forum member and he gave me a good price with a 5 week promise. So until it all comes back its on with the engine.

Quoted me £210 plus the dreaded for the chroming, not too bad as some of it is pretty rusty. The powder coating is £110 and no VAT for the frame plus all the brackets, swingarm, chain guard, battery box etc. Very pleased so far.

Sounds a bit like the lifter mechanism isn't lifting fully. Its a system where ball bearings run up a ramp as the cable turns the lifter. I would check that as a start point.

Did I mention the 350F Sankei exhaust pipes already this week. ;D

No wonder he was sliding all over, didn't see the oil thought it was just a lockup.  That's one big blow up.

Seized solid, the rev counter dropped to zero instantly. May have saved it if he thought to pull the clutch in. You can almost hear the plastic cracking and his wallet opening.  ;D

Are they stainless spokes Tim? Looking forward to some pictures.

Thanks Tim. I may give him a ring, whereabouts is he? If you don't mind me asking, what is he charging for two wheels to be built. Did you supply the rims and the spokes, or just the rims. Cheers Roy.

Yeah I wondered about the chrome too. But at the price if it starts to go I can get them redone. Not much choice if you want 4 into 4.

The third (and final) Sankei system is on its way back to Germany as I write this. For a full refund hopefully. That money has been doing the rounds a fair bit in the last few weeks. All is not lost though, when I got home a big box was waiting behind the gate:

Whats inside is not a genuine Sankei but a 4 into 4 Italian MIVV system. Opened all the packets straight away to check for the usual quality issues, and there are non. In fact it is very well made with deep lustrous chrome, and the header pipes are double skinned to past the lower bend.

The silencers are a conical megaphone shape that looks pretty good fitted to the bike (only seen pictures so far). Looks like a result, and although not original are way better made. Very happy with them in all. In the next picture, this is how to weld a seam Sankei.

I think they actually look better than the real things. Not sure if these systems are still being made, so may have just dropped lucky here. And they are £250 cheaper than the Sankei's. The last picture is off Google. My 350 is still in a million pieces, but not for long as I'm spurred on now the exhaust hassle is nearly over. Just a small matter of £880 to be returned please. ;D ;D

It's just a cb350f with a 400 tank.

I always use an old master cylinder and hose to pump them out, saves cleaning the grease out afterwards. Also its easy for a newb to damage the threads as they aren't really compatible and easy stripped.

Looks like the latest system is going back. At least I can get my money back. Just need an exhaust now, have given up on the Sankei's they are all the same. Will look for something else.
