Thanks Ash. Im sure the original were plastic but sometime in the past the bike has been completley stripped as the frame has been powder coated. I assume the brass one's were put in as part of the rebuild, I only changed them again because I have the back end out to do the chain and sprocket.

Julie,
You can not compare a CBR against a CB400. Worlds apart mate.
A bit skippy can be shocks and wobbly could be down to low pressure in the rear tyre.
.

Worlds apart I know Trig and as you know I have got a poss slow puncture on back tyre. But with my limited knowledge (compared to you Guys) I just go with what I can do and hope for the best, and it's better than doing the ironing or housework !!!). Hagon shocks fitted, both look ok.

No, I'm not sure if there was really a problem with them Trig. There may have been the slightest bit of play when I wiggled the back wheel, but it also may have been my imagination !!!. Also though, the back end feels very slightly unstable and a bit skippy and wobbly when riding. It may be because i'm comparing the back end with my CBR's. Anyway, as I'm going to change the chain and sprocket it just made sense to me to to take the whole back end apart and do the bushes at the same time. Just got them out, no major problems removing them, except 1 broken nail and some chipped nail varnish.   ;D ;D

I had  problem with DVLA recently. Did a change of address on my Freelander. I purchased it new, 2 years ago, so I'm the only one in the log book. By the time the Doc came back from Swansea it said it had had 7 previous owners !!!. Contacted DVLA and they said 'yes' definitely 7 owners, so I asked them to provide me with the other 6 owners names, No, they couldn't do this until I did a previous owner information request. So I requested the info, never did get a reply but 10 days ago the Log book turned up with the new address, showing me as the only owner !!!. There was a little letter of apology with the Doc saying it had been a data processing error !!!. Morons  :-*

Hi Experts.
I'm about to try and get the swinging arm bushes out, they look like brass and I'm replacing them with new brass one's. I'm sure I read on here somewhere the best way to get the old one's out is to cut them with a hacksaw. Before I start is there anything I need to be careful of or look out for?.

;D ;D ;D I love that, made me laugh. About a million years ago (well, 1979 actually) I had a Suzuki 500T 2 stroke that sounded just like that, it was an absolute wreck, no 2nd gear (I mean no cog in that place at all ) and she was an absolute s**t to start when hot. Swapped it one night in the pub for a Kawazaki KZ400 just so I could get home and on duty by 07.00 next morning. Oh, happy, happy days. :-*

So are you in Hull or Orkney's Ian?
What's the reg of the 400/4 from Hull? One of mine was XDN128R (Varnish Blue) and can't remember the other one but would if I saw the reg again, painted White but orig. VB. plus Parakeet Yellow CAG242T that was nicked (it had brass front engine plates (don't ask, as the PO had access to laser cutting).  Those Richie brothers, sons of Jack (Pat and Mick .. Pat used to rub his hands together whilst eyeing you up and down to see how much you would pay). They moved from the Junk Yard on temple St (Near Peter's 5-star Dealer) to De-Grey (Disgrace ;D) Street years ago  into Neval's (Ural importers) old shop but it's not there any more. Evidently they still go to Rufforth Auto-Jumble, but never been there myself.

Interested in 400/4 side panels if you decide to sell them, for my Varnish Blue tank.

Only Guy i know from Riley THS of, possibly, your era is my old neighbour here's son-in-law Dave Hewitt. There also  a guy I knew real well call Nick Robinson who attended there but he's probably a lot younger than you.

Cheers ... Ash
