If a cheque can be used, I'm happy to send one. Who is the payee and where should it be sent to?

I've checked and they are bagged up in the garage, if you need them. The part number on the invoice from DSS is 22201371000 and they are described as OEM Friction Plates

I think that I still have the set of friction plates that I removed from my 750 K2 when I bought it some three years ago. I changed them as a matter of routine rather than for a specific reason, as I had clutch slip on my previous K6 and thought that I would take care of a potential problem before it could arise with this bike.

If these are of use to you, I will check that I still have them (all parts that I keep are stored indoors in sealed plastic bags) and if you want to arrange for a courier to collect (from Norfolk) you are welcome to them.

I just use ATF for the forks, as we did in the 1970's and Putoline DX4 10w/40 for the engines in winter and the same brand but 20w/50 for the summer.

Frank bought a CB750 from a close friend of mine last year (the 1970 on the website in blue, a John Wyatt/Rising Sun restoration). I had some help in setting up the deal whilst my friend, who is retired was on holiday and all dealings with Frank were straightforward.

I would not hesitate to deal with him myself.

CB500/550 / Re: first ride of 2016
« on: February 05, 2016, 08:38:25 AM »
I have managed two short trips on the CB500 this week and yesterday took the 750 for a short run, following the rebuild of both wheels with new rims and spokes. Today I hope to go to Krazy Horse Café (Bury St Edmunds) for lunch on the modern bike (Kawasaki Versys 1000).

In the main, weather has recently been mild and sometimes damp here and it's been a case of wait for dry roads, head out and change direction whenever rain is looming!

Having ridden at least one of the bikes nearly every week since the clocks changed (I really don't like to lay them up, it has caused me all sorts of problems in the past) only once have I needed all - weather clothing to deal with the cold. Most journeys are, however quite short, generally 30 miles or so followed by lunch and then home.

Roll on summer!

Many thanks for that, I hadn't thought to check E-Bay.

CB750 / Help - please!

Does anyone have a rear wheel cush drive rubber damper for the CB750 (it is the smaller of the two, Part No:41241300040) that they might part with? I have just received my wheels back from a wheel builder and one has gone missing from the hub. At the time of despatch I did not remove them (although I did think about it) because I suspected that I might break the small rubber locating peg that is moulded into the damper itself.

If anyone has either one (or more) that they are willing to sell me, I would be very grateful. I have tried DSS, however they have no current stock.

Other Bikes / Re: What do you think about Kawasaki s2350 triple?
« on: January 26, 2016, 09:10:27 AM »
I have always wanted one of these, however they are rarely available in the UK. When I last checked, I was told by a well - known restorer that spares were even harder to find than the bike itself, quite frequently resulting in the need to buy a "rolling wreck" (if you can find one) to obtain a single hard to find item such as a rear mudguard.

I have also been completely unsuccessful in finding anyone who is set up to supply spare parts, so it would probably be a trawl around autojumbles were any needed.

Perhaps the situation is better in Spain?

CB500/550 / Re: Which tires for my 76 550
« on: December 29, 2015, 08:32:39 AM »
I fit TT100's to all of my older bikes as tyres become due for change. On the 500/4 I use a 4.10 front and rear (as we did in the 1970's) and on the 750 a 4.10 front and 4.25 rear. Central tyre usually hold them in stock.

If you want to see pictures of them fitted, send me a p.m. with your e-mail address attached and I will forward a couple to you. (There are some on this site already, although I am not sure where, that were kindly posted by another member for me as I cannot seem to upload them myself).

CB750 / Re: swingarm help
« on: December 26, 2015, 09:38:15 AM »
I've just replaced the swing arm bushes and pivot pin on the CB750. I did try new bushes without renewing the pin at first, however it was a complete waste of time and effort. After fitting the new pin, all is as it should be again.

Interchangeability / Re: Replica brake master any good?
« on: December 20, 2015, 07:54:43 PM »
My CB750 has the DSS pattern master cylinder fitted and my CB500 the original part. Both work well enough, although the brake on the 750 (with the pattern part) has always been firmer at the lever, in comparison the 500 brake feels a little spongy.

As fluid changes, bleeding etc. have made no difference to the feel of either brake, I have put it down to either differences in the two systems, or master cylinder piston size on the aftermarket part. Neither bike has ever had an issue with brake performance at MOT test.

I personally prefer the feel of the CB750 brake with the pattern master cylinder!

CB750 / Re: Tyre thread for MOT cb750 k2
« on: December 15, 2015, 08:17:59 PM »
I always fit TT100's to all of the old bikes at first tyre change. Rears on the CB500 last me around 4,500 - 5,000 miles (similar life on a Benelli 750/6 that I also have them on and the 750K6 that I owned for some years). The front tyre never seems to wear out, or lose its profile.

As we did in the 1970's, I fit an oversize (4.10) to the front of them all and a 4.10 to the rear of the 500, a 4.25 to the other bikes.

From choice, I wouldn't fit anything else!)

I bought the tool from Silver's to remove my CB500 hub retainer last year. Incredibly tight all the way out, I had to have several attempts at it and yes, it was a left - hand thread (1974 UK model).
