Suspiciously cheap, would be a bargain though, it is very frustrating that they haven't got back to you, which of course makes you wonder about buying from them.

CB750 / Re: 750 K2 Strip & Rebuild - help please

The VHT paint seems pretty tough stuff to me, but that is after curing in the oven. So if you are confident to put whatever part in the oven for an hour or so, I would say it would be worth a shot, even if that part never saw 150 C again. Maybe it would be a bit soft if it wasn't cured, and obviously you are looking for petrol resistance if you are painting a carb.

With all the conversation about the rise of electric vehicles, what all of these great names of the past must be doing to keep themselves in some sort of business. With a huge, but gradual steady decline in demand what will they turn to. They can't all turn their hand to making PV cells instead or whatever.

XD05F caps have arrived today, as others have stated they now seem to be available from other suppliers. They look genuine to me. Out of interest, label on the box says made in Japan.

I don't know if this helps but I think the info on this thread might be related. I recalled something about using vaseline to overcome airlocks in 750 oil pumps. Also might be better in a new thread as this one has moved onto a new topic.

Are these them?
No that's the vd05f. I got mine from there, they refunded my order for the xd05f after 6 months of being on order as they didn't know when they would get any more stock.

Update. I may have found a supplier, a place called Opie Oils in Redruth. They are listing as in stock so I have chanced putting an order in. £15.45 for a pair delivered. I'll update if it works out or not. After looking for so long, you start to believe that no one has them, let's see.

Does anyone have 2 of these in black going spare? They are the long 102 degree angled ones that fit cylinders 2 and 3. I replaced the vd05f ones on 1 and 4 because 1 had failed. I have looked extensively to no avail. Numerous suppliers list them but when you look further you find there is no stock, or that the company has bad reviews on ebay. One supplier is listing them at £106.83 each! They are used on quite a few bikes including the gold wing.

What is it? / Re: It’s a rainbow

Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vein.

Me too. But my Richard gave battle in vain.

Not sure how he’d do with a blood vessel

Oops.  :o

On the second rainbow, if conditions are just right then there is a second reflection from the raindrops, hence the colours being reversed.

Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vein. Also the pic shows a double rainbow. The colour sequence in the outer rainbow is reversed. VIBGYOR.

It's out of stock Ted, my guess is that these are the same silencers as DS stock. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the DS one, before they go up in price yet again!

CB350/400 / Loose baffle in original silencer
« on: May 15, 2022, 11:03:01 AM »
I would really like to keep my original Honda silencer however the baffle is loose and rattles. As far as I can tell it is only held on by a small remaining piece of metal, this is visible when looking down the pipe from the front, when off the bike of course. I think at the back it is probably completely detached. Does anyone have experience of a repair? Alternatively removal of the baffle??? Also, any experience of what happens if it falls off! Silver has the copies in at the moment but it wouldn't match the patina of the downpipes, so would probably lead me in the direction of replacing the whole lot. £££

Misc / Open / Silverstone auction
« on: May 14, 2022, 05:04:20 PM »
Just come back from the MCN show where I spent some time at the auction. Notable highlights for me were a Z900 in very good nick guided at 15 to 18K that went for 8.5K. A couple of others went nearer to 13K which were also guided at around 14 to 18K. Most bikes were going for around 10 to 20% below the minimum estimate.
A 400 four rust bucket went for £5,500. Someone must have swallowed the blurb about its 900 miles, believed to be correct, and some spiel about its first owner being a James Bond Art director!
There was a stunning 550 four, pictured, but I missed the sale, i'll look it up later.

OK, got that image loaded, lets hope fitting carbs back on the bike is just as easy.  ;D
Welcome, tidy looking bike there. Getting the carbs on and off is easy once you've done it about 10 times. Adding photo attachments, well you seem to have that covered.
