I've got a power transformer in the van for powering the microwave an kettle on site so doesn't matter to me much thats where it'll live.

I completely disagree with all of that Ted, done two of these now and onto my thrird fitment of one onto the 550. Far simpler, far easier and faster if you're making a loom.
If you want an easy to take off, bolt on system then go for the OE loom, if you want a few more options and to do away with loads of un needed stuff the M unit is spot on. They're not £300 plus if you shop about and really easy to fit. I'm on the phone to Andy later re his so we can have a chat. Honestly, the Munit's are really good. Yes you can have keyless, yes you can have one wire this and that but YOU DONT HAVE TO!
It has a diagnostice setting showing everything and and draw down from individual circuits and a heap of other features but its good. I have an M button on the 400 but not on the 550.
FOR EXAMPLE........
Feed from switch to INPUT on the Munit from headlight light (for example) with the switch grounded.
Earth from light to Frame or similar
Feed from Munit OUTPUT to the light
tap switch, light comes from, tap again, light goes off..............simples!
Inputs on one side of frame, outputs on the other, keeps the wiring tidy, theres far less of it and easier for fault finding. If ever there's a fault it's a grounding fault and easily found. The screws dont come undone and have a plastic lock washer incorperated into the set up so never vibrate loose, already proved that one having a unit fitted to a DR350 which is green laned often by a pal. He has had zero issues with it.

Talking of compressors, anyone recommend a small inexpensive one for the workshop? There are so many out there I never know which one to get and have heard some right disaster stories concerning some of the better makes. I only need a small 25-50l one to blow crap about and clean stuff, no power tools to be used off it, no spraying, nothing like that.
Any reccomendations?
Just talking about the 'LIDL IDLE' or similar from Aldi, they do vary in quality. I have the laser temp guage which was 15 quid and a few grinders which were sub 20 quid but I bought a 6KVA petrol generator from Aldi about 11 years ago, a Parkside one I think. Honda copy but has no missed a beat at all and never fails. Its been run over by dumpers, reversed into the lot. Think it was about £175ish.............best tool Ive ever bought for the money!

A CR 500!!! If I remember rightly I think that might be a step too far for me, afetr I briefly rode one a few years ago I needed new eyeballs and new undrpants...........too much for me! If I had the cash, the time and the space I always wanted and still do, a NS400 with a big bore kit on it. Always loved them and they were at the highest point of Honda's build quality at the time. I had a poster up in the gagare for years to drible at before it got knackered in a fire extinguisher fight one afternoon!

having turned wood for years, no so much the last 10), I could have sworn that was a turned set. If he's done that by hand that is simply incredible work, especially as a hobby in front of the idiot lantern! Stunning stuff
