Some of your info in the first post in this thread is not at all accurate, but on the whole you done a fair job, p.s nickel is under the copper, saves the use of cyanide base copper strike, though for many years now they have been using alkaline copper strike in a heck of a lot of plating shops.

Initially looks like a UK bike but I reckon it's an import fitted with stuff like long rear mudguard to replicate a UK bike ... Says KZ on the VIN sticker ... never remember that on mine. Still nice though.
It is an import first UK registered 2018.

Me 6, had this on another bike, the stops were thick enough to drill and put m5 cap screws in to stop the problem.

I have in the past made complete screw in overflows.

What's the fuel stabiliser you use, and does it work okay.

Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
I use oregon fuel stabilizer it comes in 5ml pippetes, been using it for around 15 years and never had any problems.

I never winter store my bikes, I use them and keep them running year round, though less in the winter, I have used a fuel stabilizer for years, I do drain the carbs and tank off once a year then straight back on and run as often as I can during the winter.

You mention that when you put No. 4 lead onto No. 3 plug the exhaust then got hot. Is there a chance that it was incorrectly fitted in the first place?  Have fun, it's a great hobby for keeping the old grey matter active. Mike.
I don't think so, since the spark is is 'a redundant spark' I expected it to 'work' at the other end of the stroke to at least prove the fuel is getting through. So I think the leads aare all in the correct order. I just swapped them as a logical elimination step.

I will take the tank off again, tomorrow, and follow the leads to make sure they are   #1and#4 and   #2and#3.. If they aare not, then it needs new cables as they are not reaching anywhere else.
PS, I am having a good time doing this and learning.
if  3 out of four are heating up your leads are on correctly, valve time and ignition timing will be correct, I would look at valve clearances on suspect cylinder then do a  leak down test, as well as swapping leads 2 and 3.

The amount of vacuum is not important as long as they are even, with regards to the slides adjust the height adjusters to the middle of their travel, then back off the tickover screw until iit s out of contact with operating lever, then check to see if slides are bottomed out, if bottomed out raise them using the tick over screw then bench set the heights evenly, then back off tickover screw until you can just about see light through carb throats, upon start up if tickover is racing back off idle screw, if this fails there is another problem , ie  choke plates not fully open, ignition timing, air leak on engine side.

With valve guides at the upper end there was always going to be a good chance to burn oil as the valves are likely to wobble and the seals will let by.

When I twinned my K3 500 I used a gl1000 master cylinder, never had any problems.

Philpotts have done a set for me, lead time was quicker than quoted and an excellent job was done, at 34.19 mm I should image they were leaking like the Torrey Canyon, and rattling like a pair o maracas.

Well let's be honest, they are only bsa by badge  in reality they are Mahindra and sadly quality is not part of their remit at present.

Every thing else such as valve clearances and timings should be done first, carbs ideally float levels and slide height need to be done on the bench, when on bike vacuum is better balance at higher revs then the pilot screws can be tweaked to bring the idle into better balance, the idling problem is possibly down to slides being too far out of sync.

Years ago my old z1000 got pulled in because the reg number had been issued to 2 bikes in 1978, it took until 2006 for them to realise,  I had to take to the police inspection centre at Maidstone,  that was a long couple of hours, it worked out fine though.
