Title: Exhausted working this problem.
Post by: Grumpyfck on November 01, 2020, 05:54:09 PM
I have spent most of my afternoon failing on this one. I  have a jardine 4 into 2 exhaust that was on a k6. I have a k6 engine in an f2 frame. I just cant seem make it fit. Is there that much of a difference? I  assumed as the engine sits straight in it would be workable.

The F2 frame is different to a K6 frame  ;)

I can see this being a headache one way or another.

Where is the problem specifically?

Biggest difference is the footrest hangers that are bolted onto F2.

Around the side stand area, right side is tight but doable, left seems impossible. That said I am not 100% I have the down pipes in the right order. I knew it would be a tough build with what I have. The nature of budget mongrel shed build I suppose.

Is it the one the pairs cylinders 1+4 then 2+3 together?

I can get a look at a K6 frame vs a F2 to see relative difference,  if any, of sidestand braket but not until Monday, if that's any use.

If you mean do they cross over, they appear to do the pair on each side. I am a complete beginner at this, with little knowledge on the different models. Learning as I go.

Think they are "notable" for pairing the centre two to left hand side of bike and outer two to the rhs of bike.

Have a go plugging the headers on in that orientation to see what you get, that's if all the pipes are separate and not welded into collector.

That is information that might be something,  thank you! Last week a pulled out a large bracket. Knew it was important, could work out what it did? Googled, read, nothing. Tonight research on the exhaust flagged it up as the muffler mounting bracket! Might be helpful too 🤣

As I said, novice!

Technically that's the right way to pair a 4 cylinder into 2, most that made them didn't bother but seem to remember Jardine promoting that as their selling point in the dim and distant past.

We'll find out though,  let us know how you get on.

I will and thank you again. I have glean much from reading back on stuff here. Regretfully my only contribution is asking questions. Be few days before I can get at again.

Got at it again today, had a serious google of Jardine models and this on looked to do 1+2, 3+4. Finally figured out the down pipe positions and worked out with side stand removed it fits, will need a little massaging but it does work. Simplest solve would be a bolt on side stand re positioned. Keeping the ability to go back to original when exhaust replacement in the future. Cheered my weekend up properly.

Are they like these? These are jardine 4 into 2’s. As you can see the 2 and 3 cyl go to the left pipe and the 1 and 4 go to the right..

No, they are definitely 12 - 34, have them just about there now. The problem was side stand position mainly. .
