Lastly the 1947 Manx  Raced on the Isle of Man GP in 1948 and 1949 Junior race

Other Bikes / Colorado Norton Commando
« on: December 04, 2017, 05:38:24 PM »
My Norton Commando based on the Colorado Norton Works bike, with many parts supplied by them CNW in Colorado
The bike is virtually all new with the exception of a few fully refurbished items.
The Billet parts are stunningly made and it sounds lovely. It took best part of a year on and off to build but the paintwork is House of Kolor Candy green over a black base with gold pinstriping.

Project Board / Rickman 750 tank strap
« on: July 30, 2017, 08:32:30 AM »
Hi, I'm having a aluminium petrol tank made at the moment for my Rickman CR 750 and will be looking for a stainless steel tank support strap.
I think it will need to be custom made but wondered if anyone has had a strap made before.
Would need to be about 50mm width.
Any thoughts appreciated

Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / Username and password problems
« on: June 16, 2017, 04:35:19 PM »
Hi, I know the SOHC forum in the USA is different but for some reason I cannot gain access to there forum.
The UK SOHC forum is fine and I used the same username and passwords for both.
When the forgot password button is clicked it says its sending a message to my e mail address but I never receive anything and cant contact anyone to tell them
I'm stumped
This could possibly also happen on the UK SOHC site
Any assistance appreciated   :'(

CB750 / HEAD GASKET
« on: May 30, 2017, 04:47:18 PM »
Hi, Any thoughts on the following appreciated.

I'm in the process of building a 1977 k7 engine and its now got a Wiseco 836cc big bore kit fitted.
The Cometic head gasket that came with the Wiseco kit only has two larger (17mm ) hole cut outs for the studs with O rings the rest are just stud clearance size.

My cylinder has the 2 plus 8 more for the knock pins and seals, 10 X 17MM holes are required in total.
The Wiseco kit supplier says there's only ever been this gasket which is wrong for me.

The standard gasket kit from Silvers has all 10 larger holes but of course the cylinder bore size is standard 750cc and too small.
I have seen gaskets on USA sights but wondered if anyone has had this issue and know a UK supplier ?

CB750 / 1978 Carb clips
« on: May 15, 2017, 04:02:04 PM »
Hi, Do you know if the jubilee style clips used on the CB750 engine to carb and carb to airbox are the same throughout the 1970's model range.
Silvers have clips for the early models but not listed on the 1978 model they have different part numbers and the 1978's are discontinued apparently.
If the rubbers are the same then the clips from the earlier ones must fit ??????
There a narrow band and hard to find elsewhere.
Cheers all

CB750 / 4 into 4 Exhaust system
« on: May 15, 2017, 02:34:03 PM »
Hi, Can anyone explain the differences if there are any from around the 1975 CB 750's to a 1978 model F2's
I'm looking for a 4-4 system for my 78 F2 engine Rickman, Silvers show a 4-4 system for earlier models and was wondering if I could fit or adapt it
Any assistance appreciated.

I'm also currently discussing with a man I know who manufactures systems and will be discussing the making of a 4-4 mild steel CR750 replica system for another bike I have.

Project Board / CR carbs for the CB750
« on: April 19, 2017, 05:20:59 AM »
Hi, I was looking for suggestions for CR carbs for my CR750 replica.
Engine is 1977 836cc big bore kit but standard cam.
How would they perform as compared to the original carbs performance wise although I'm not looking for more speed they would be cosmetic.
Is there a CR carb model range ?

Interchangeability / Swopping the calipers round
« on: April 17, 2017, 06:13:23 PM »
Is this a stupid question ?
On the GL1000 forks that I have fitted to my CR 750 replica, can you swop the complete stantion and lower sections over so that the callipers are in front of the forks as opposed to behind the forks ?

Misc / Open / SCAM WARNING
« on: April 07, 2017, 11:21:15 AM »
Hi all, there was recently a 1975 CB750 on e bay that stated they were selling on behalf of a friend as they had no e bay account.
I made an enquiry to the seller and got a reply stating his dad had recently died and would accept an offer for a quick sale. etc etc.
E bay shortly after cancelled the sellers advert but it again came up. He also had a Harley on there which to me also seemed to cheap.
They have now again been removed.
No way would I or should anyone else part with money without being 100% on it.
Just thought Id let everyone know
If it sounds to cheap its possibly a scam.
" There still out there and probably always will be "

CB750 / Main Bearing clearance assistance
« on: March 15, 2017, 03:51:51 PM »
Hi All, I have just made a first main bearing clearance check on my 1977 CB750 engine using plastigauge.
The journals looked in really good order and originally they had Green shells on all 5 journals.
Although the shells looked good and unscored I decided to replace them anyway.
I have fitted new Green shells and the measurements are as follows:
Looking at the engine from the front:
journal 1  is 0.076
Journal 2 is 0.076
Journal 3 is 0.063
Journal 4 is 0.076
Journal 5 Generator end 0.050
I will take the readings again but how does this look
Any assistance appreciated
