Max has now contacted me to say he's made an additional 4 rods, so I have 5 rods in total when they arrive.

That was my point Nigel, the piston doesn’t really touch the caliper, it’s suspended by the seal, the bottom of it, tbh the far bigger part is covered by brake fluid, the pad should be greased along it’s outer edge to allow it to slide back and too, this should mean that water/salt ingress is kept to a minimum or not at all.
As for squealing, I had twin discs fitted with genuine Honda pads and they never uttered a noise in many thousands of miles. It’s possible the noise could be a sign of lack of lubrication in the caliper/pivot setup.

As for the dent, I’m not saying it can be removed without some specialist work, more that it can be blended in, just remove the scratches and flatten the surface, when you get it either rechromed or ceramic coated the damage should be almost unnoticeable.

SS, as the piston doesn’t touch the calliper it won’t cause any problems with the interaction between SS and alloy.

I could remove the damage to the number 4 pipe Ted, if I can so can you. Use the dark green flap wheels and your Dremel. It will remove the chrome as well though so clean up the rest with the red wheels so as to remove all the rust etc then get it ceramic coated, either chrome or satin black.

I think you’re missing the point. If you’d ordered the genuine 8mm nuts, paid for genuine 8mm nuts and then found they’d sent you the cheaper 8mm nuts but still charged you for the genuine 8mm nuts you’d feel what I feel now.
Strangely CMS have gone silent on the matter, they responded to my first email within 20 minutes but since getting the pictures showing clearly they’d sent non genuine parts, whilst still charging for genuine parts, they haven’t responded. It’s now 2 days and nothing to explain why they did that.
I’m now stuck in limbo, I’ve now found another source of genuine rings from 2 different sources as no one has 4 sets but can’t order them until CMS respond.
I’ve always rated CMS but this is concerning, how many would know this had happened and thus have been overcharged for cheaper parts. I’ve had parts from both CMS and DS. that were not in their original packaging but so long as I was certain they were genuine I wasn’t that bothered. I’ve also had parts from DS labelled as a part number by DS that turned out to be wrong, a set of fork ears for a CB550F2 which had F2 written in felt on the bag that turned out to be off a CB750F2 instead. By the time I found that out it was far to late to return them for a refund.

For gods sake Ted do not throw those away, if no one else wants them I’ll take them, clean them up, get rid of the rust and scratches and get them ceramic coated in chrome finish

Weird, never noticed that, a thing like a small dent would have bugged the hell out of me, the 550 ears for instance don't have the dent but then again the 550 uses a different tank. But when I think about it why does the 550 ears not hit the tank when used on a 500 with a 500 tank.
