Shame my bike isn't ready yet, just got back (yesterday) from a hol in Ibiza, but bought a new crash hat today and giving the bike it's last check over before the MOT, so hopefully I'll soon be mobile.
Cheers

Nice on Den, you might be ready for aintree then? or if not another southport run, cheers mick.

Went to Southport with Biffta this evening and got moved on by the law.
Bikes aren't allowed at the cafe on the prom any more due to "Health & Safety" issues following complaints from the non biking public.
The end of an era. I've been going there since I was 16 on my Yammy FS1-E.
Southport, RIP.

Nice to see you again Dave

Flippin eck :o, and i've only been once , is there not another spot that they will meet up on? cheers mick.

Hi Dave,
Got it booked in today (Friday) at a local bike shop (Warpspeed), it's the closest to me, just had to nip out and buy some leggings as it's raining, first time out on it and it rains, still haven't got any boots though, all the other gear and trainers ! Got the insurance sorted yesterday (Carol Nash), should get the tax next week, and we are away.
For Aintree the boss is a bit worried in case there are no other wimmin there, so she may follow me in the car with the grandsons for a day out. Think it's a bit of an excuse really as she hasn't been on the back of a bike for years, and is a bit nervous as I haven't ridden a bike since 1998.
Cheers
Den

Fingers crossed for you Den that it passes ;) hey if we both make it to Aintree i'll be able to get them rims off you save messing about ;) , once you get on the road we will have to organise a meet up with you, Biffta & Dave m & anyone else who wants to, cheers mick.

Looks like a plan has been hatched for Aintree...watch out Sam! ;D I'm sure it's going to be a great day and I can't wait.
-
Sounds like a good plan.

Hi guys, I notice the black 750 - 4 has the high american style handlebars, Who's bike is it? The reason I ask is that I'm currently restoring a 1976 F1, and would prefer the higher bars, but nowhwere seems to stock them. I asked at dave silvers but no joy, any ideas? I have seen some Kawasaki Z1 bars at Z power but I would have to drill and cut them to take the wiring, anyone know of some decent honda pre drilled ones? By the the way , I'm in St Helens, not a million miles away from Southport, bit of a pi**er about them stopping the bikes at the cafe. :-\
-
I always thought genuine Honda bars had the wires running inside the tube. I have no Idea about a place you can buy high bars it
-
Hi Fatal, the 750/4 with the high bars is mine ;) & the bars are infact Z1 bars the wires run on the outside of the bars , you will also need a longer clutch cable 53" from end to end & a longer top brake hose :), hope this helps, cheers mick.
-
Hi Fatal,
F1 bars are extinct, tried to get a new pair for mine as the chrome is a bit dodgy but even CMSNL did not have them, will have to do what I used to do, buy some bars drill them and thread the wires through, or send the old ones off for rechroming.
Cheers

Thanks for the info chaps. I won't be able to make Aintree due to other committments. I used to live there many years ago, even Marshalled at the bike meetings back in 1975 and '76, the heyday of my mis-spent youth. ;D
-
Fatal, I'm sure somebody will take some photos of the day at Aintree and post them, looks like the F's are popular in the NW 8) Good luck with the work on the bike are you doing a Den type restoration?
-
All may not be dead at Southport.
Apparently the cafe owner has coned an area off for the bikes and put up some pretty posters to look at.
Not sure how the ccess is yet, I'll have a look after my hols.
-
Dave, thats good news maybe we could push the bike from the road to the parking area, I dont think pushing a bike on the pavement is illegal or a HS issue....enjoy your jolly ;D
-
I will.

Not sure what you mean by 'Den type restoration' ???

Fatal, ground up job like Den or a rolling restoration, back to original specs or custom build, had the bike long or just got it, I suppose was the question but I hate typing. ;)

Just heard that Southport was heaving with bikes last night so it seems business as usual at the moment.

I'm still looking but I might know where there is one on a 550K3.
It would appear that the K3 wheel will fit mine so I'll give him a call when I get back.

I see what you mean now. I was given the bike by a friend last October, it had been partially dismantled several years ago due to the chain snapping and knackering the engine, it was very tatty and yellow. He just wanted rid to create some space in his garage. I didn't paticularly want an F1, I was looking for a K6 as I'd previously owned two many years ago. I remember my mate buying this bike in 1977, he even christened it Beryl!
I've had the frame, swing arm and centre stand powder coated, sourced and completed a partial rebuild to another engine, I have all the parts I need it's just time and the motiavation. Being semi-retired you'd think I'd have it done by now, but it'll be next spring hopefully. I'm not going for a concourse job, just a good quality near original look, and in the red paint scheme.
-
Fatal, thanks for the background on your project seems like you are well on your way, I
-
I certainly will, cheers.

Went over to the Maplas Yesteryears Show and had a great day even seen Sam
