Title: Petrol tank filter.
Post by: Bradders on November 29, 2022, 04:24:22 PM
Afternoon. Just wondering how often the filter in the petrol tank needs cleaning? Mines been in there for 2 seasons now( 4,000 miles). Think the manual says every 3,000 miles but does it need doing that often or is that overkill?  Thanks.

I guess that depends on the internal condition of your tank and quality of fuel/fuel storage. I’d say cleaning the tank filter every 3000 miles is not required. Does the manual really say every 3000 miles?

Wow, it really does say 3k/6 months. Fill yer boots, but I’d say it was a waste of time if the tank is spotless internally and not shedding material.

Thanks Sesman. I use Super unleaded and my tank has a lining put in by the PO, not sure if that will make any difference. Maybe I’ll put it off for another year.

Ahh. A lined tank. I’d check it regularly. How often is a personal thing, but once a year I’d say.

Ahh ok. I will do that over the winter then. Thanks for your relies Sesman.
