Anybody bought or used torozzi rearsets on their cb500?? (or any other bike for that matter) im looking into buying a set and wondered if people have had any suggestions on fitting them and if they will clear the kickstarter. i know im going to have to build custom mounts for them and make my own linkage etc. If anyone else has tried any other rearsets they can recommend or help with fitting that would be awsome, its for a cafe racer so standard just wont do. cheers.

CB500/550 / Repairing fins

Some of the cooling fins on my engine have chunks snapped out of them and some are a bit bent out of shape and I don't have the missing pieces it looks like the bike has been dropped by a PO or something. Has anybody repaired there's? Is it an easy job or shall I just replace the cylinder head/ block? Don't really want to spend much money as it's costing me enough to repair the bike as it is so if I can repair that would be better.

So I'm turning my cb500 into a cafe racer, how much can I remove before it becomes non road legal? I'm planning on removing the centre stand completely and just using the side stand and I would like to remove as much weight as possible for that clean race look. I heard that you have to run a chaingaurd to make a bike road legal is that true? Can I remove the fenders completely or are they a legal requirement? Can I run the bike without a horn? Having never built a bike before it's difficult to know how much to remove before it becomes illegal. Cheers in advance.

Hello just a quick enquiry about the legality of the cone filters attached directly to the carbs I keep seeing on cafe racers. Are they road legal? I run open air filters on my xt660x and they aren't technically road legal but are hidden under bodywork so I would have thought it would be the same for the cones. Plus if I do fit them is there any extra considerations I need to make regarding the carbs seeing as though they mount directly to them.

I have a 74 cb500 and I'm turning it into a cafe racer and would like to upgrade some of the old technology on it for example better brakes ( rear disc conversion etc ) and would like to change the pegs out and fit some rearsets on it to move them back and down to make everything more comfortable for me as I'm 6'5 tall. Are there any bolt on kits for this bike or have any taller users done any mods to increase ride hieght or make it more comfortable for longer rides? I feel good on the bike as it is but it could always be better. Any decent uk sellers or any other help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just bought a cb500 four as my first project bike and need to know the actual model I have. The bike has an engine number that starts with CB500E 10 which is k0 according to this site but the frame starts with CB500 20 which is k1 is this normal or do I have an engine from a different bike in my frame?

I posted this over on sohc4.net before realising there was a uk only forum. They reckon that it's normal for these bikes to have mismatched engines and frames and I shouldn't worry. Is this something anyone else has encountered? I dont have any history on the bike as the PO says it's a barn find so any insight would be greatly appreciated.
