Title: Scam or not?
Post by: royhall on October 17, 2020, 12:26:51 PM
There are a lot of these coming up on eBay. Does anyone know if they are genuine or a scam. They look too good to be true to me, I imagine you pays your money up front and no bike appears.

I bet they are legit. registered ebay business seller good feedback.

But.. imagine the import fees and shipping would be enormous, you may have to arrange that yourself.

There are plenty of ebay sellers already doing this.

Not scammers but just because they say 'free shipping' there are still all the other costs incurred. Also, you don't really know what you're buying. Very high risk purchase.

They say shipping is free to Barrow in Furnace, import costs are 5% of the sale price plus £125 for docks and Nova. Still think its too good to be true, I mean a reasonable looking Bonneville for 4k?

What makes me really suspicious is the small deposit via paypal then bank transfer for the rest. So no financial protection there.

That’s the company I bought my latest project from. I don’t know how they can ship free. But they do ship free of charge. No hidden charges the tell you what additional charges are, ie- vat5% nova registration etc, I paid £165 additional charges total on top of bike price. They seem to be a good outfit, and there’s a guy called Billy Woodburn in Barrow in Furness and he does the receiving and handling at this end. Good communication and I would recommend them.

Seems legit .. just beating the likes of DK, Freddy and Sumerbud etc at their own game by cutting out the middleman.

There price was the main reason I bought from them. I had watched different DK bikes and others on eBay and very surprised even when they had gotten reasonable offers they had removed them from sale because reserves hadn’t been met. They were just a bit pricey for me.

All these bikes must be looked at as scrap value. A member was telling me once, that he was at DK when a chap turned up with his crash helmet to ride away the bike he had bought via ebay. He asked one of the sales staff "does it come with a full tank of fuel ". The sales person had to explain that the bike was a non runner and both tyres were flat as a pancake  ;D

That is hilarious 😂 yes photos rarely reveal all Trigger.  I had 22 photos of my bike which revealed a lot of the horrors and a lot more revealed since. Yes mine could easily been sold just as scrap. But what I got was the basis of a potential restoration project, and I am happy with it, I wanted something to work on and boy yes I do have my work cut out. Any questions regarding my experiences with “Flashback enterprises” I’m happy to pass on.

Couldn't agree more. All these bikes are full stripdown projects. Just the price of these is way better than DK and they all come from the same place USA. Projects at DK are just stupid prices these days, even their used parts prices are going up rapidly.

Billy is an old mate, a good bloke. I used to do machining work on some of his projects.
